VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.—The College at Brockport baseball team stumbled in their second game of the day on Friday, losing to hosts Virginia Wesleyan College 10-0. The Golden Eagles drop to 1-2 on the season and the Marlins hold a 4-2 record on the year.
The bats were quiet in the first inning for both teams, but the Green and Gold fell behind in the second as the Marlins scored the first runs of the game. Brockport threatened in the top of the third after
Anthony Eaton and
Drew DeBlasiis got on base, but they were unable to convert and left the runners on base.
Sam McCumiskey did not have his best stuff working today, giving up seven runs in four and a third innings while striking out four batters.
Michael Donofrio had his number called and quickly retired the first two batters that he faced to get the team out of the inning. The Marlins added two more runs in the 6th, before another pitching change by Brockport, brought in
Nathan Valentine to get the third out.
The Golden Eagles are back in action Saturday, Feb. 24 when they face against Alfred State College at 9 a.m. followed by Ithaca College.
