Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Spectacular Season Ends with Semi-Final Loss

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—The College at Brockport men's basketball team saw their season come to an end on Saturday in the semi-finals of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoffs. The Golden Eagles fell to SUNY Oneonta, 82-77 and await the selection show on Monday to see if they make the NCAA tournament.

The Green and Gold finished the season with a record of 19-7 and 14-4 in SUNYAC play, while the Red Dragons hold a 14-13 mark heading into the finals.

The game started with both team trading buckets and changing leads until the 15:03 mark where the deficit sat at four points for Brockport. The Gold Eagles continued to chip away and answering everything the Red Dragons had to offer, never letting the game get out of hand or out of reach. Timely buckets by Jon Carnegie, Dwayne Daniel and Hamed Shamseldin brought the game to within one-point multiple times. Heading into half time, Brockport was down 31-27.

In the second half, Brockport began to struggle a bit defensively and fell behind by as many as 12 points. However, the team was not ready to give in and continued to attack Oneonta and knock down shots. The Golden Eagles cut the deficit to five points at the 1:25 mark after a layup by Tyler Collins was followed by a three pointer by Daniel and two made free throws by Davonte Jones. Shamseldin ended the game by scoring all 11 of the teams points, using three makes from beyond the arc and two makes from the charity stripe. Unfortunately, it was not enough.

Shamseldin led the way with 28 points in 37 minutes of play. Collins chipped in 12 points of his own, while grabbing four rebounds and handing out four assists. Michael O'Hara battled in the paint and snagged eight rebounds, while scoring 11 points.
