Second Half Comeback Falls Short Losing to Salisbury, 13-10

SALISBURY, MD. – The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team falls short to No. 5 Salisbury University Friday afternoon, by a final score of 13-10. The Golden Eagles drop to 0-3 in 2018, where the Sea Gulls move to 6-0.

Brockport started slow, as Salisbury built a 4-0 lead within the first 13 minutes of the opening half. Moments later, Sara Grapevine answered for the Green and Gold to bring the score to 4-1. The Golden Eagles continued to struggle for the remainder of the first half, as the Sea Gulls added four more goals to lead 8-2 going into the halftime break.

Brockport dominated the second half, but fell short of the comeback. The Golden Eagles tallied four quick goals to cut the deficit to 8-6. Victoria Thompson scored first on the four-goal run, with a quick catch-and-shoot to beat the keeper. Taylor Thomas beat the Sea Gull's goalie next, when she put her shot near post into the back of the net. Jade Williams ended the run scoring a pair of goals, with one being on a free position. Salisbury notched two quick back-to-back goals to pull away 10-6. The Green and Gold strung together a three-goal streak to now trail 10-9, with Thomas scoring first and Hannah Cullen adding two of her own. After another Salisbury goal, Andrea Zlinsky cashed-in on a quick catch-and-shoot from Conklin. Despite controlling the second half, the gap was too large for Brockport to complete the comeback falling 13-10.

Cullen led the offensive charge for the Green and Gold ending with three goals. Williams and Thompson finished with two goals each, while Conklin handed out two assists.

Sara Shaddock played the first 26 minutes of the game and ended a pair of saves, while Sarah Brown played the 34 remaining minutes and racked up eight saves.

Brockport stays on the road as they have face two tough opponents next weekend, with the first matchup against The College of New Jersey on Saturday, with the game slated to start at 12 p.m.
