ITHACA, N.Y.- The College at Brockport men's soccer team fell to Ithaca College Saturday afternoon, by a score of 4-1. With the loss, the Golden Eagles drop to 4-2 on the season while the Bombers advance to 5-0-1.

The Golden Eagles were the first ones on the board, netting a goal in the 14 minutes of play. Ayub Jeylani intercepted an Ithaca College pass and was able to fire a shot around their goalkeeper, putting Brockport up 1-0. The goal was Jeylani's team-leading fifth of the season. The Bombers would not take long to tie it up, at the 32nd minute Ithaca scored their first of the night after a pass across the box beat Brockport goalkeeper Tautis Poniskaitis, tying up the game 1-1. Ithaca continued to bring offensive pressure, a corner kick in the 35th minute would lead to a loose ball scrum that ended in the back of the Brockport net, putting the Bombers in the lead, 2-1.

The second half saw more of the same from the two teams, Ithaca continued to assert their offensive pressure while Brockport struggled to find opportunity. The Bombers would string together two quick goals in the second half, one at the 62nd minute and another at the 64th, putting the game out of reach for the Green and Gold.

"The team had a disappointing outing on the road today," said Head Coach Gary Lapietra "At times were not effective defending in our final third and we made some very uncharacteristic mistakes."

The Golden Eagles will have a short turnaround as they're back in action Tuesday, Sept. 18 in a matchup against the Elmira College Soaring Eagles.
