FREDONIA, N.Y.- The College at Brockport men's soccer team won their 4
th straight after defeating Fredonia Friday afternoon, by a score of 1-0. With the win, Brockport moves to a 8-2-0 overall record and 3-0 in SUNYAC play, while the Blue Devils fall to 2-6-1 on the season and 0-3 in SUNYAC play.
The first half saw familiar high-speed offensive action from the Green and Gold. The Brockport offense out shot the Blue Devils 10-2 in the first half,
Ayub Jeylani accounted for three of them, one of which forced the Fredonia goalkeeper to make a save. Quinton Volpe also tested the Fredonia net-minder with two of his own, all of which were turned away. The two teams left the half tied at nil.
Â
The second half looked as though someone turned up the intensity on the pitch. Emotions started to flare around the 50th minute when a yellow card was issued to a Fredonia player. Then around the 60th minute, another yellow card was issued, this time on a Brockport player. The emotional game would reach its boiling point at the 62nd minute, when a scrum broke out that resulted in two red cards, one issued to either team, as well as a yellow card issued to Brockport. The Golden Eagles, however, would not let their emotions get the best of them. With the game tied at zero heading into the last five minutes of play, Aj Sinclair found freshman
Matthew Stefaniw, who beat the Fredonia goalkeeper, putting the final nail in the coffin for the Blue Devils.
Â
"The team battled extremely hard today as it was a very difficult win under very tense circumstances," said head coach Gary Lapietra "I was pleased how the boys stayed together."

The Green and Gold are back in action Saturday, Sept. 29 when they travel to Buffalo State for a 4 p.m. matchup.
