ONEONTA, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's basketball took on its third conference opponent of the new year Saturday afternoon in their matchup up against the Oneonta Red Dragons. Despite a strong second half, the Golden Eagles fell at the hands of the Red Dragons, 72-46.
 
The Green and Gold offense struggled to find the bottom of the net, putting themselves in a tough position to start. After continuously crashing the boards with little luck, 
Julianna Taylor took matters into her own hands, driving hard to the basket for the Golden Eagles first points of the day. 
Emily Nestler would soon after add to the team's total, muscling through the Red Dragons defense for two good foul shots; Nestler coming off an impressive outing against the Hawks. The Golden Eagles would find themselves trailing after the first, 22-6.
 
The Hawks continued to execute through the second, holding the Green and Gold scoreless through five. After some readjusting, junior 
Bailey Pratt settled in offensively, adding back to back scores to the board, both in the paint and from three. Nestler fed off of Pratt's momentum, adding her first of the day, closing the gap to 17. Both led the Golden Eagles at the half, Pratt with five points and Nestler with four points, six rebounds, and an assist. 
Kylee Rosbrook and 
Allison Chiera provided much needed strength under the basket as well, pulling down seven rebounds collectively.
 
Taylor would start the second half in a very similar fashion, making her presence known under the basket with back to back layups to put the Golden Eagles on the board first. Sophomore point guard 
Zaria McCullough refused to let the Red Dragons get too comfortable with their lead, picking up her first steal of the day for a basket. The third period continued to be a collective offensive effort for the Green and Gold, Chiera, Pratt, and Nestler each adding points of their own.
 
The Golden Eagles finished with a strong fourth period, however not enough to seal the deal. Freshman 
Morgan Elmer zoned in for the final 10 minutes, sinking two threes to put her at six points on the day along with Taylor. Nestler lead the Golden Eagles with her second double-double of the weekend, amassing 10 points and 14 rebounds. Pratt and Chiera followed close behind with eight points apiece and four rebounds.
 
Brockport brings their efforts back home Tuesday where they will face off against Hamilton College at 5:30 p.m.
