Buffalo State Earns a 2-0 Win at Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY -- The College at Brockport men's soccer team lost to visiting Buffalo State 2-0 in SUNYAC Conference play on Friday night at Bob Boozer Field. Ali Shawish led the way for the Bengals as he netted a goal in each half to put the contest away.

Brockport has now lost two in a row and saw its record fall to 6-6-1 (1-4 SUNYAC). Buffalo State picked up its tenth win of the season and improved to 10-2 overall and 3-2 in SUNYAC play. Brockport returns home on Saturday for the final of a four game home stand.  The Golden Eagles will celebrate their ten seniors on Saturday prior to the start of the game against Fredonia at 1 p.m. at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field.

The Bengals got on the board first when Ali Shawish broke loose and beat Brockport goalie Tautis Poniskaitis on the left side to hand the visitors a 1-0 lead at 25:48.  Buffalo State then took a 2-0 lead when Shawish netted his second of the day after a beautiful lead pass from Josh Beshaw in the 54th minute.

With the exception of the two breakout goals, the teams played to a relatively even match.  Each team posted six shots on goal while Brockport earned a 7-4 advantage in corner kick chances.

Poniskaitis stopped four shots on the day for the Golden Eagles, while Andreas Queen made six stops in net to earn the shut out for the visitors.
