Women's Soccer Hosts Pair of SUNYAC Matches this Weekend

Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport women's soccer team returns home after a four-game road trip this weekend for a pair of SUNYAC matchups. The Green and Gold will host Oneonta on Friday for a 3 pm start and take on New Paltz at 1 pm on Saturday.

Last Time Out: Brockport took wins on the road this past weekend in conference play. The team beat Buffalo State, 4-1, on Friday before getting a 3-2 win over Fredonia to finish the set of games. A successful end to the road trip improves Brockport's record to 8-5-1 overall and 4-2 in the SUNYAC.

In a Groove: After securing back-to-back wins against Buffalo State and Fredonia, the Golden Eagles have worked up momentum as the season winds down. The team now has four wins in its last five games. Continuing this strong play will be crucial down the stretch to fight for a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament.

Sharing the Wealth: These last two games featured multiple players who contributed greatly on offense. Kiley Longin, Camryn Pettit, and Sydnee Smith all finished the weekend with two goals and one assist each. Franchesca Polcaro got involved as well, with one goal and one assist.

Longin Leading the Way: The freshman forward, Kiley Longin, continues to lead the team in points. She has a total of 21 points on eight goals and five assists, ranking third in the SUNYAC in points. Over the last four games, Longin has recorded four goals and one assist for the team.

Remaining Games: The regular season is beginning to wind down as the conference tournament approaches. Brockport only has four contests remaining on the schedule. The team faces Oneonta and New Paltz this weekend, before closing out the regular season next week with games against Elmira (Oct. 22) and Geneseo (Oct. 26).

SUNYAC Standings: Heading into the final stretch of regular season games, the Golden Eagles are currently sitting at third place in the conference standings. The full list of SUNYAC standings is as follows: 1. Geneseo (5-0-1 SUNYAC), 2. Cortland (4-0-1 SUNYAC), 3. Brockport (4-2 SUNYAC), 4. Oneonta (3-2 SUNYAC), 5. Buffalo St. (3-3 SUNYAC), 6. Plattsburgh (2-2-1 SUNYAC), 7. Fredonia (1-3-2 SUNYAC), 8. New Paltz (1-3-1 SUNYAC), 9. Potsdam (1-4 SUNYAC), 10. Oswego (0-5 SUNYAC).

Scouting Oneonta: The Red Dragons are just one spot behind Brockport in the conference standings, with a record of 5-5-3 overall and 3-2 in the SUNYAC. After falling to Hartwick on the road earlier in the week, the team has now lost two games in a row coming into Friday's match. Oneonta is 1-2-2 away from its home field, struggling to earn wins on an opponent team's turf.

Scouting New Paltz: New Paltz holds a record of 4-7-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the SUNYAC heading into the weekend. The team will face Geneseo on Friday prior to Saturday's matchup with Brockport. The Hawks most recently defeated Oswego, 1-0, in overtime. Alex Wild scored the golden goal in overtime, giving her four scores on the season. The team has struggled on the road this year, with a 1-4 mark away from home.

Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles are home again next Tuesday for a quick step outside of conference play. They will play host to Elmira College for a 3:30 pm game.
