Men's Soccer Falls in OT; Focus Now is Geneseo Saturday

BROCKPORT, NY – The College at Brockport men's soccer team lost a 1-0 overtime heartbreaker in the final home game of the regular season on Wednesday night against non-conference opponent Houghton College. Houghton's Kenneth Estep flipped a pass into the box and found the head of Daniel Bussey who finished the header over the outstretched arms of Golden Eagle goalie Joseph Romano to help lift the visiting Highlanders to victory just 3:09 into the first overtime period.

Brockport will regroup quickly and set its sights on Saturday's road matchup at Geneseo.  A win on Saturday will secure the defending SUNYAC Champions the No. 6 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.  Saturday's matchup at Geneseo will begin at 1 p.m.

Brockport is 2-1-1 in its last four games and the Golden Eagles hold an 8-7-2 overall record, including a 3-4-1 ledger in SUNYAC play. Houghton's record improved to 5-5-5 overall on the year.

The Golden Eagles earned a slight advantage in the majority of the box score as they outshot the visitors 17-5 and earned a convincing 8-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Leading scorer Matthew Stefaniw led Brockport with five total shots, including two on goal, on Wednesday.
