Brockport, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's soccer team is wrapping up their final SUNYAC road games of the season this weekend. The Golden Eagle take on host Buffalo State at 4 p.m. on Friday, before traveling to Fredonia at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Recent Action: Brockport spilt last weekend's road trip at SUNY Potsdam and Plattsburgh State, as they won the first game 2-1 against the Bears, then fell in the next matchup against the Cardinals 1-2. Now the Golden Eagles record stands at 6-5-1 overall, and 2-2 in the conference.
Conference Play: The women's team is currently sitting in the middle of the pack with their 2-2 record, and the Golden Eagles look to jump up in the standing this weekend playing two more SUNYAC opponents. Geneseo is the front runner in the conference with a 3-0-1 record. Brockport has a chance to shorten the gap between them and first place as they take on second place Buffalo State Friday night.
Finishing Strong: With these two games this weekend being the final away games of the year this means the Conference Tournament is right around the corner. The Golden Eagles have gone 2-2 in their last four games and they are looking to finish the season on a winning streak. Five of their final six games are against SUNYAC opponents which will give them a chance to climb to the top of the conference standings. The first round of the SUNYAC Conference Tournament begins on Nov. 2.
SUNYAC Stat Update: Brockport currently ranks fourth in the conference with an average of 1.92 goals per game. The Golden Eagles also rank second in the league with 21 assists this season. Brockport's 71 saves and four shutouts this season also rank second in the conference.
Rookie of the Year Candidate: Freshman Kiley Longin currently ranks fourth in the conference with 16 total points this season on six goals and four assists. Longin netted two goals in Brockport's 2-1 win over Potsdam last Friday. She now has 11 points in her last six contests. She has at least one goal in three of her last five games.
Top 10 Scorer: Freshman Camryn Pettit ranks in the top 10 in the conference with 12 points this season. She now has five goals and two assists. She recently went on a three game scoring streak, posting at least two points in three consecutive contests. She netted a career-high two goals in Brockport's 2-0 win at home against Oswego on Sept. 28.
Between the Pipes: Freshman goalie Kayla Usborne currently ranks fourth in the conference with a 1.17 goals against average. She has a 3-2-1 overall record to go along with 38 saves for the Golden Eagles.
Scouting Buffalo State: Buffalo State is 6-5-1 overall and 3-1 in SUNYAC play. The Bengals are currently on a three game winning streak with two overtime wins against Plattsburgh State and SUNY New Paltz. Their most recent victory came against Oneonta. Alexis Hanson is the top goal scorer for the Bengals this season with six goals.
Scouting Fredonia: The Blue Devils are 4-5-2 overall and 1-1-2 in the conference. Fredonia prefers to play at home as they are 4-1-1 at home, and winless on the road with a 0-4-1 record. Fredonia's only conference win this year is against Potsdam where they won 2-1 in overtime. Melanie Minotti is the Blue Devils top scorer with seven goals on the year.
Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles finish the regular season with four straight home games against Oneonta (Oct. 18), New Paltz (Oct. 19), Elmira (Oct. 22) and Geneseo (Oct. 26).
