Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport indoor track and field teams hosted the Brockport Season Opener meet on Saturday to start the 2019-20 campaign.
Egypt Page took first place in the long jump by breaking the 36-year-old school record with a distance of 7.30 meters. His record-breaking leap currently ranks second in the country. The previous indoor record of 7.23 meters was set by Adam Bradley back in 1983. Page also took first place in the 60-meter dash running a 7.01 time.
Chanyce Powell holds two top 10 spots on the indoor national qualifying list after today's meet. She took first among collegiate competitors in the triple jump with the ninth best distance in the country of 11.17 meters. Powell then earned the six best long jump in the nation of 5.43 meters to take second among collegiate competitors at the meet.
Satin Holmes put her speed on display in the women's 60-meter dash, taking first place with a time of 7.96. Teammate Molly Scarpello was right behind her with a second place time of 8.20.
The Golden Eagles took the top three spots in the weight throw event for the men. Matt Faulise set a new personal best with a distance of 16.02 meters to earn first place. Mike Makowski and Tony DeYoung took second and third respectively.
DeYoung's throw of 15.82 meters in the shot put won him the event and places him fifth in the country. On the women's side Sarah Crockett snagged second place in the shot put with a throw of 12.34 meters. Holly Buccheri and Mady Dibble would take third and fourth in the event.
Gerard Connelly earned first place in the 5K race on the day, clocking in at 15:28.70. Kevin Killigrew's time of 16:04.84 in the event was good for fourth place.
Brockport took the top four slots in the women's pole vault event, with Maya Reina leading the way. Reina cleared a height of 3.50 meters for the top spot and holds the fourth spot on the national qualifying list. Reanne Dressler took second, Gillian Laco took third, and Nicole Specht took fourth.
In his first high jump competition at the college level, Liam Mooney placed first among collegiate competitors at the meet. He cleared a height of 1.91 meters to do so. Taj Shaw leaped 14.11 meters to take second place in the triple jump, and currently ranks fourth in the nation with his mark.
Syd Steger won the 3K event for the women with a time of 11:34.76. Brianna Lawless' time of 26.96 gave her first place in the 200-meter dash at the competition.
The 4x200-meter squad of Molly Scarpello, Satin Holmes, Samantha Karp, and Brianna Lawless took first place at the meet with a time of 1:50 flat.
Daniel Heil won first place among collegiate competitors in the men's mile race. Heil recorded a time of 4:49.69 in his first career college mile race.
The Golden Eagles will be back to work following the winter break with the Ithaca College Quad Meet. They travel to Ithaca, NY on January 18th, 2020 for a 12:30 pm start that Saturday.
