Brockport Upsets Undefeated Baldwin Wallace On The Road

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team pulled off a gutsy win over Baldwin Wallace University Saturday afternoon, by a score of 12-9. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets are handed their first loss of the year, falling to 5-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED –
  • Brockport battled out of an early one-goal deficit in the first quarter to win the frame, 3-1.
  • Jacob Recor knotted the game at one goal a piece on a man-up opportunity, while Liam O'Connor picked up the go-ahead score.
  • Patrick Sheridan made it a two-goal difference to end the first quarter.
  • O'Connor made it five unanswered Brockport goals to start the second quarter as he picked up a pair of scores.
  • Nick Daigle and Patrick Sheridan would make it seven unanswered goals as the Green and Gold pulled away, 7-1.
  • Baldwin Wallace was able to stop the Brockport attack by going on a four-goal run of their own to end the half, 7-5.
  • Brockport traded scores with the Yellow Jackets to start the third quarter as O'Connor picked up his fourth of the game, while Max Riley made it nine goals for the Green and Gold.
  • The Yellow Jackets added four goals in the third quarter to tie the game, 9-9.
  • Sheridan broke the tie halfway through the final frame with a high-to-high shot.
  • O'Connor made it back-to-back Brockport scores moments later.
  • With three minutes remaining Peter Scavone put the final nail in the coffin, extending the Brockport lead to three goals.
 
  KEY STATISTICS –
  • O'Connor led the Golden Eagles with five goals on the day. The sophomore is on a three-game goal scoring streak, while leading all Golden Eagles in scoring.
  • Patrick Sheridan picked up a hat-trick on the day including the game winning goal.
  • Ethan Stiles went 14-25 at the face off dot.
  • John Felice made nine saves in the win.
 
 
UP NEXT –
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, March 20 when they host Concordia University Wisconsin, with opening faceoff set for 12 p.m.
