ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The College at Brockport baseball team traveled to the University of Rochester on Wednesday for a non-conference battle. The Green and Gold were on the wrong end of an 11-4 loss.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP –
- The Golden Eagles now hold a record of 7-10
- The Yellow Jackets shift to 7-6 on their season
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- The Green and Gold tacked on a run first with an RBI single up the middle by Anthony Eaton that scored Tom Kretzler
- The opposition quickly answered by tallying two runs of their own in the bottom of the first
- Eaton came up with timely contact in the third inning, hitting a sacrifice fly to center field that gave Nicholas Pastore enough time to tag up and cross the plate and make the score 2-2
- The Yellow Jackets, had another response in the bottom of the inning scoring four runs to make the Brockport deficit 6-2
- The Green and Gold added two more runs in the top of the seventh thanks to an error by the second baseman
- The mistake brought in Justin Valentino from third and Charlie Serino from second
- Unfortunately, they were not able to mount a comeback and came away with a tough 11-4 defeat
KEY GAME STATISTICS –
- Kretzler batted 3-for-5 with a triple, double, stolen base and run scored
- Eaton finished the day 1-for-4 with two RBI
UP NEXT –
- Brockport will host SUNY Plattsburgh for their home opener on Friday, March 29. The first game of the double header will start at 12 p.m.
