Golden Eagles close out day one of Bucknell Outdoor Invitational with impressive finishes

LEWISBURG, Pa. –  The College at Brockport men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Pennsylvania this weekend for the Bucknell Outdoor Classic where they joined a number of Division I programs. Saturday included all of the distance events in addition to the men's decathlon, the women's heptathlon, and variety of field events.

HOW IT HAPPENED – 
 
Men
 
Track- 
  • Senior Andrew Davis competed for the men in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing 17th overall with a time of 9:28.36.
  • Sean Kuehn, Marius Sidlauskas, and Humberto Wallace Jr. finished 18th, 21st and 23rd respectively in the 5000m.
  • Junior John Boyzok competed in the 10,000m run for the first time in his career and notched a SUNYAC qualifying time with his finish of 33:15.48. 
Field-
  • Taj Shaw led things off for the men's team in the triple jump, closing out the top competitors with a 10th place mark of 13.63m.
  • Anthony DeYoung was the only other men's field athlete to compete on day one. The senior had a strong showing in the discus throw, finishing 16th overall with a mark of 45.25m.

Women
 
Track-
  • Allison Miller opened things up for the women's team on the track in the 3000m steeplechase where she finished first in her respective heat and brought home an eighth-place overall finish of 10:54.37. The juniors finish puts her at the top of the Brockport record book for the fastest finish in the event, beating the previous time of 10:56.29 held by Terry Wilson in 2006.
  • Krista Kicsak dominated in the 10,000m, notching a third-place finish with a time of 38:45.63. 
Field-
  • Jessica Craven and Mady Dibble grabbed top 20 finishes in the women's discus throw; Craven leading the way in seventh-place with a mark of 42.15m and Dibble in 17th at 37.57m.
  • The pole vault duo of Kelcey Watson and Maya Reina had a strong outing for the women's team, posting a pair of 3.57m marks, tying them for seventh-place.
  • Halle King competed in the high jump, closing out the day with a 1.51m mark to tie her for 27th.
  • Alayna Fredenburg followed in the javelin throw, posting 21st with a mark of 30.87m.
  • The women's team had three athletes compete in the triple jump including Mia Montgomery, Halle King and Lisa Huynh. Montgomery led the pack in 21st with a mark of 10.87m, followed by King tied for 22nd at 10.79m, and Huynh in 26th at 10.38m.
 
UP NEXT – 

The Golden Eagles are back in action tomorrow, April 14 to compete in day two of the Bucknell Outdoor Classic starting at 10 a.m.
 
Sunday's events will include the men's and women's mile, all sprint and relay events, hurdles, and the remainder of the men's and women's field events.
