BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport baseball team hit the baseball field for the first time in almost a week when they battled Elmira College on the road on Tuesday. Despite playing from behind through five innings, the Green and Gold used a big seventh inning to win 12-3
INSIDE THE MATCHUP –
- The Golden Eagles sit at 15-16 overall in 2019
- The Soaring Eagles move to 4-24 on the season
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- Brockport took the lead in the third inning, after a Liam O'Leary fielder's choice allowed Charlie Serino to cross home plate.
- The lead was short lived however with Elmira taking a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the inning.
- Neither team scored again until the sixth inning, when a throwing error by the opposition gave Nicholas Pastore enough time to tie the game at 2-2.
- The first run of the seventh inning occurred on a wild pitch that sent Aaron Cook running to home plate and giving the team a 3-2 lead.
- Pastore continued the momentum with a two RBI double to right center that made the score 5-2.
- Serino then scored on a dropped fly ball to center field and then a Tom Kretzler bunt brought Pastore home and put the lead at 7-2.
- The eighth occurred on an RBI single by Lou Miceli and at the end of seven, the Golden Eagles were ahead 8-2.
- Michael Spulnick kept up the teams hot hitting in the eighth when he sent an RBI single through the left side, bringing home Serino and furthering the advantage to 9-2.
- The score ballooned to 12-2 in the ninth after a D'Ante Furcinito-Zapanta single a pair of Elmira mistake allowed three runs to cross.
KEY GAME STATISTICS –
- Pastore led the way once again with a 3-for-3 day that included a double, while recording two RBI and two runs scored.
- Cook hit 2-for-4, the only other Golden Eagle to have a multi-hit game on the day.
- Chris Cramer and Kyle Canavally combined to toss five no-hit innings, walking just one batter, while striking out six.

- Brockport will return home to battle the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers on Wednesday, April 24 at 4 p.m.
