ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The College at Brockport baseball team was unable to put together solid game play, as they were outmatched on the road by St. John Fisher College on Wednesday, losing by a score of 15-4.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP –
- The Golden Eagles drop to 8-13 on the season.
- The Cardinals now hold a record of 12-7 this year.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- The Green and Gold fell behind in the first inning, giving up four runs and through five innings they were in a 6-0 hole.
- The bats came to life in the sixth inning after Aaron Cook reached on an error and Tom Kretzler worked a walk to put to runners on base.
- Matt Van Allen put Brockport on the board with a three-run homerun to left field to cut the deficit to 6-3.
- Unfortunately the relief pitching was unable to keep the opposition off the board, giving up nine runs in two innings.
- Van Allen crossed the plate again in the eighth inning after doubling to right center and stealing third before coming around on a throwing error.
KEY GAME STATISTICS –
- Van Allen finished the day going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
- Brad Nowak also finished with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.
UP NEXT –
- Brockport jumps back into State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on Saturday, April 6 when they travel to SUNY New Paltz. The double header will kick off at 12 p.m.
