Golden Eagles close out AAROTF Championships with multiple top finishes

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's and women's track and field teams closed out the 2019 All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Championship strong. The men's team brought home a first-place finish overall with 76.5 total points followed by the women who grabbed second-place overall with 86.5 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED – 

Men

Track-
 
  • Mike Panzarino capped off a strong outing in the men's decathlon, recording a third-place finish with a total of 5932. His strongest performance of day two came in the 1500m and 110m hurdles, notching a first-place finish in both events.
  • Olivier Kothor, Devon Legrair, Egypt Page and Matthew Killian had a strong performance in the 4x100, grabbing a fourth-place finish with a time of 41.93. 
Field-
  • Tony DeYoung was the solo top finisher for the men's team in the discus throw, notching third-place overall with a mark of 47.92m.
  • Egypt Page was the next to find success in the field events, grabbing a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.42m.
  • Bryan Short added a top ten finish as well in the high jump, where the seniors mark of 1.93m put him in a tie for seventh-place.
  • The men's strongest finish of the day came in the shot put, grabbing four of the top 10 spots. Freshman Art Jordan topped the leaderboard with a mark of 15.06m followed by DeYoung in fourth with a mark of 14.89m, Matt Faulise in fifth with a mark of 14.54m and Gunner Rapone rounding out the scoring in seventh with a mark of 14.26m.
 
Women
 
Track-
  • The women's 4x100 team of Molly Scarpello, Cynthia John-Ogam, Satin Holmes, and Brianna Lawless were relentless once again, posting a third-place finish over with a time of 47.97, just behind conference rival SUNY Cortland.
  • Lawless grabbed another strong finish in the 200m, where the sophomore placed fourth overall with a time of 25.46.
Field-
  • Halle King and Jessica Martin grabbed top finishes for the Golden Eagles in the high jump. King led the way in second-place with a mark of 1.59m followed by Martin in a tie for seventh, also with a mark of 1.59m.
  • Jess Craven continued her strength into day two, notching a third-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 12.44m. Mady Dibble closed out the top 10 in the event with a mark of 11.81m.
  • The women's team found their greatest success in the discus throw where they commanded three of the top four spots on the leader board. Craven led the way in first with a mark of 43.96m followed by Dibble in third with a mark of 40.11m and Mariah Mays in fourth with a mark of 39.59m.
     
UP NEXT – 

The Golden Eagles will now send a select number of athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio starting Thurs., May 23 at 10 a.m.
