BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's and women's track and field teams hosted day two of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships. The women's team finished in second-place with a total of 175 points, while the men took third-place with 170 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED –
Men
Track-
- Andrew Davis earned the win in the 3000m steeplechase, using a time of 9:25.68 to earn the ten points.
- James O'Brien and Dylan Brickner scored for Brockport as well in the steeplechase, taking fifth and seventh respectively.
- Devin Pravetz, Olivier Kothor, Egypt Page and Matthew Kilian combined to lead the 4x100 team to a third-place finish, using a time of 42.60 to reach the achievement.
- Brandon Leiter and Mike Panzarino scored important point for the Golden Eagles, with Leiter taking fourth with a 15.23 time and Panzarino finishing in 15.50 to take sixth.
- Kothor recorded a second-place finish in the 100m dash, crossing the line with a time of 10.85.
- Kother's day continued in the 200m dash and took away sixth-place with a mark of 22.34.
- Panzarino wrapped up the decathlon with a second-place finish after collecting 5904 points on the day.
- Sean Kuehn and Marius Sidlauskas took fifth and sixth respectively in the 5000m run. Kuehn finished the race in 14:58.08, while it took Sidlauskas 15:02.08 to cross the finish line.
- The 4x400 team of Jaysen Wylie, Lukas Hofbauer, Mike Young and Devon Legrair took seventh-place in the event with a time of 3:28.85.
Field-
- Bryan Short led the way in the high jump clearing a bar placed at 1.90m to take the win. Liam Mooney took home fifth place in the event with a height of 1.85m.
- Brockport dominated the shot put with five athletes taking the top-six positions.
- Tony DeYoung was the first-place finisher after tossing for 16.02m in his third attempt.
- John Fleming took third with a 15.09m mark, followed by Gunner Rapone in fourth (14.74m), Matt Faulise (14.55m) in fifth and Art Jordan in sixth (14.33m).
- DeYoung took the top spot in the discus throw as well after throwing a distance of 44.85m.
- Rapone and Jordan finished the discus event in fourth and fifth respectively.
- Egypt Page wrapped up the field events with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump. He leaped a distance of 14.14m.
Women
Track-
- The competition kicked off with the finale for the heptathlon and Madison Baker represented the team with a sixth-place finish, recording 3204 points.
- Allison Miller grabbed an impressive win in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing the race in 10:54.61, setting a new meet record.
- Katie Adams also scored points for the Green and Gold, taking home eighth place in 12:29.86.
- The 4x100 team that consisted of Molly Scarpello, Cynthia John-Ogam, Satin Holmes and Brianna Lawless, recorded a second-place finish in 48.03.
- Ellie Ramirez took eighth in the 100m hurdles, completing the race in 16.44.
- In the 100m race, Holmes crossed the finish line in fourth-place using a time of 12.58. Molly Scarpello finished shortly after (12.60) to take fifth in the event.
- Rose Pitman continued the scoring for Brockport after competing in the 800m dash and taking fifth-place with a time of 2:22.91.
- Lawless' day continued in the 200m dash and took away fifth-place with a mark of 25.77.
- Miller later competed in the 5,000m run and took home fourth-place after running a time of 17:37.89. Krista Kicsak also finished strong, coming in seventh, using a mark of 18:36.64.
- The 4x400 team of Heil, Molly Kabza, Rose Pitman and Lawless, combined for a time of 4:08.61 to finish in sixth-place.
Field-
- Two Golden Eagles finished in the top eight in the triple jump, starting with Lisa Huynh taking sixth place with a jump of 11.24m. Mia Montgomery followed with an eighth-place finish, using a mark of 11.08m.
- Brockport rocked the discus throw, placing five in the top seven starting with Jessica Craven taking first-place with a mark of 42.84m.
- Mady Dibble continued the momentum with a second-place finish after throwing a distance of 41.75m in her fifth attempt.
- Mariah Mays threw for 36.08m for fourth-place, followed by Michelle Vayner in fifth with a mark of 34.32m. Olivia George rounded out the Brockport success in the event, notching seventh place with a 33.37m mark.
- Jessica Martin was strong in the high jump, leaping for a mark of 1.57m to walk away with a third-place finish.
- Craven's special day continued with a first-place finish in the shot put, using a throw of 12.85m in her first attempt.
- Dibble nabbed the third-place finish with a mark of 11.86m, and Holly Buccheri and Mays took fifth and sixth respectively.
