Brockport, NY – The women's soccer team is in preparation for the 2019 fall season, which is set to begin on August 30
th as a part of the North Country Classic. The Golden Eagles will travel to face St. Lawrence on Friday at 4:30 pm and will meet up with Clarkson University for a 2:30 pm matchup on Saturday.
2018 Recap: Brockport finished 2018 with a 7-11 overall record and a 3-6 mark against SUNYAC opponents. Despite having a couple blowout wins over D'Youville and SUNY Canton, the team suffered several close losses during the season.
Maddie Siclare and
Marissa Greiner both received Second Team All-Conference selections, as the two players combined for seven goals and three assists. It was Greiner's first career all-conference nod, while Siclare earned her third career honor as a senior.
Coach Idland: Head Coach
Mike Idland is heading into his fourth year with the program, with a record of 24-24-4 in his first three seasons. Despite missing out on the SUNYAC Tournament in 2018, Idland led Brockport to the conference tournament in each of his first two seasons as head coach.
Key Returners: The team is bringing back some core members of last year's roster.
Ellen Walpole returns to the midfield, while
Rian McMullen and
Courtney Franz are back to solidify the backline of defenders. Seniors
Mara Zimmerman and
Molly Zientek will also be back to provide veteran leadership for the Green and Gold.
Leading Scorers: Marissa Greiner is back for her junior year after tallying eight points last season. Greiner is the highest scoring returner from 2018, finishing with three goals and two assists.
Krista Statt is also returning as a junior, coming off of a seven-point effort, three goals and one assist, during her sophomore campaign.
In Net: One of just three seniors on the team, goalkeeper
Kimberly Lubanski will be back in the net for the Golden Eagles for one last go around. Saving 89 shots as a junior, Lubanski now has 131 total saves in her career and needs just 69 more to reach the 200 career saves milestone. She earned two shutout wins last season and posted a saves percentage of .817.
Newcomers: The 2019 roster features 13 new faces to the squad, including a large freshman class. Destiny Satkowski is the lone sophomore out of the newcomers, hailing from Medina, NY as a forward. The 12-deep freshman class is comprised of

Home Sweet Home: The team was better off at home last year than on the road. The Golden Eagles held a 5-5 home record, and a 2-6 mark away from their home field. Out of a total of 23 goals scored in 2018, 15 of those scores took place at home, including a 5-0 win over SUNY Canton.
The Road Back to SUNYAC's: Last year was the first time since the 2014 season that the Brockport women's soccer team did not earn a spot in the SUNYAC Conference Tournament. The squad went 3-6 in conference play in 2018, with five of its six in-league losses coming by just one goal. The Green and Gold will aim to get back to the conference tournament this fall.
Scouting St. Lawrence: The Saints from St. Lawrence finished last season with a 10-3-4 overall record. Combining for 11 goals and one assist as freshmen, Julia Mulhern and Katie Clemmer are back as sophomores looking to lead the Saints in scoring once again. Senior Samantha Allen will also be returning to the pitch for the team, coming off of a 92 save 2018 season in which she started all 17 games.
Scouting Clarkson: The Golden Knights are looking to bounce back after a 5-9-3 mark from last season, where they finished with just one win in Liberty League play. Giulia Mahoney led Clarkson with 15 points, five goals and five assists, as a junior and is looking to build off of that entering her senior campaign. Returning seniors Camryn Careccia and Alicia Bushey combined for five goals and three assists last year. Elyse Green is back in net for the team after coming up with 85 saves in 16 starts at goalkeeper as a junior.
Home Opener: The Golden Eagles will begin their home schedule after opening weekend by hosting St. John Fisher for some non-conference action. The team's first home match of the year will be at 4 pm on Wednesday, September 4
th.
