PITTSFORD, NY – The nationally-ranked No. 24 College at Brockport men's soccer team won its fourth straight game on Wednesday as the Golden Eagles defeated host St. John Fisher College 2-0 in non-conference action at Growney Stadium. Brockport has now outscored its opponents by a combined score of 14-1 over the course of four consecutive victories.
Following a scoreless first half of action, Brockport (4-1) came out of the intermission firing and got on the board just 46 seconds into the second when
Matthew Stefaniw found
Zach Langelotti to put the visitors up 1-0 (45:46). Langelotti has three goals in his last four games and is now tied with
Jeff Hibbard for second on the team with three goals this season.
Stefaniw then put the game away at 52:45 when he netted his fourth goal in five games. Stefaniw, a sophomore, now has 16 career goals and leads the team with 11 points this season.
Over the course of their last four wins the Golden Eagle defense has surrendered just six shots on target. Goalie
Tautis Poniskaitis needed just one save to pick up the shut out for the visitors. He now has nine career shut outs to his credit.
The defending SUNYAC champs have outscored opponents 16-4 this season and they boast a 53-13 shots on goal advantage through five games.
Brockport dominated the matchup against Fisher, earning a 14-1 corner kick advantage on the day.
The nationally-ranked Golden Eagles return home Friday night to take on Medaille College in non-conference play at 7 p.m.
