Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport volleyball team hosted day two of the Brockport Invite on Saturday, facing off against Hamilton and Ithaca. The Golden Eagles dropped to 4-8 on the season with losses to both opponents to close out the weekend.
Match 1 vs. Hamilton
In the first contest of the day Brockport fell to the visiting Hamilton Continentals 3-2 in five sets. The Green and Gold won the first two sets before Hamilton rallied for a comeback win.
Meaghan Mastro led the team with 16 kills and 19 digs in the match. Mastro also contributed with her play above the net, coming up with two blocks.
Andrea Coyle and Megan Muelhbauer combined for 25 kills, while
Shelby Budnick tallied three service aces.
Kerri McHale and
Abbey Manning did a nice job setting up teammates throughout the match, with 27 and 23 assists respectively. McHale and teammate
Ellen Paddock were active on the floor, totaling 29 digs together.
Brockport won sets one and two by scores of 25-16 and 25-23. Hamilton bounced back with 25-22, 25-23, and 15-12 wins in the next three sets to secure a victory.
Match 2 vs. Ithaca
The Bombers defeated the Green and Gold three sets to none in the final matchup of the Brockport Invite. The match was competitive with two of the three sets being decided by just two points.
Kerri McHale finished the second battle of the day with a team-high 18 assists to go with 11 digs.
Ellen Paddock and
Abbey Manning both came up with double-digit digs in the match as well.
Meaghan Mastro recorded six kills and led the team with five blocks. Teammate
Lindsey Luce also had six kills and contributed at the net with three blocks.
Andrea Coyle recorded a team-best seven kills against the visiting Ithaca Bombers.
The Golden Eagles are on the road Tuesday for their first SUNYAC contest of the season. The team meets Geneseo for a 6 pm start.
