Brockport Begins SUNYAC Play at Home this Weekend

Brockport, NY – Its Homecoming Weekend for the College at Brockport, as the women's soccer team will host two SUNYAC matchups. Cortland comes to town on Friday for a 4 pm kick-off, while Oswego is lined up for a 1 pm start on Saturday.

Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles took down Juniata College on the road in their last contest, with the final score reading 8-1. With eight different goal scorers in the win, the team improved to 4-3-1 overall ahead of conference play. Kiley Longin registered one goal and one assist, while Sydnee Smith tallied two assists.

Longin, Camryn Pettit, Fiona Stockdale, Marissa Greiner, Ellen Walpole, Molly Zientek, Julia Mascaro, and Lara Kanbur all found the back of the net. The Green and Gold doubled its scoring output on the season from eight to 16 goals in just one match. The team is now outscoring opponents 10-1 over the last three games.

Gaining Momentum: Brockport has picked it up after an 0-2 start, with a mark of 4-1-1 over the last six contests. After winning two in a row, the team is gathering momentum heading into the beginning of conference play this weekend. With a 2-0 undefeated slate at home so far this year, Brockport aims to defend its home field against Cortland and Oswego.

Freshman Impact: The fresh faces on this year's roster have played a crucial role in the success of the team already this season. Freshman Kiley Longin leads the squad in goals (3), assists (4), and total points (10). Franchesca Polcaro has four points on one goal and two assists, while Julia Mascaro has registered one goal and one assist. After defeating St. John Fisher, 5-2, the team most recently fell to Clarkson, 1-0, at home. Cortland is 1-3 on the road and is led by Ro Hernandez, who has scored five goals this season as a sophomore. Last year the Red Dragons defeated the Golden Eagles 1-0.

Scouting Oswego: Oswego is 2-6 overall with a match scheduled against Geneseo on Friday, ahead of Saturday's meeting with Brockport. The Lakers had lost five games in a row, before finally snapping the losing streak with a 4-0 victory over SUNY Canton last week. Sophomore Liz Myers is the team's leading contributor on offense, notching nine points on four goals and one assist. The Golden Eagles defeated Oswego in overtime last year, thanks to a game-winning goal from Krista Statt, assisted by Marissa Greiner.

Up Next: Brockport will be on the road next weekend, as the team gets into the thick of conference play. The Green and Gold will face Potsdam at 4 pm on Friday, and Plattsburgh at 1 pm Saturday.
