BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport men's soccer team (5-2-1) is back on the road this weekend for the beginning of SUNYAC competition. The team will travel to take on Cortland (4-2-1) Friday at 4 pm, before heading to Oswego (5-3) Sunday for a 1 pm start.
What Happened Last: The Golden Eagles are coming off 0-1 loss to Otterbein and a 1-1 tie with Capital University during their recent road trip to Ohio. Against Capital,
Matthew Stefaniw scored the lone Brockport goal on a penalty kick late in regulation to force overtime. Brockport couldn't find the back of the net again to push past the Crusaders, resulting in the draw. The team is now 2-2-1 on the road this season.

Stefaniw's Sophomore Campaign: After being named Third Team All-Region and Third Team All-Conference as a freshman,
Matthew Stefaniw has continued his strong play into this season. The sophomore is fourth in the SUNYAC with 14 total points, thanks to team-highs of five goals and four assists. He has registered at least one point in all but two matches so far this season, and is 2-for-2 on penalty kick opportunities.
SUNYAC Championship Rematch:Â Brockport and Cortland met in the conference championship game last year, which saw the Green and Gold crowned as the 2018 SUNYAC Champions. The team shut out Cortland, 2-0, to win its 11
th SUNYAC title in program history. At the time, the Red Dragons were ranked sixth nationally and had only one loss.
Jeff Hibbard and
Jason Hayes both registered points, while Poniskaitis made six saves to secure a clean sheet.Â

Looking for Revenge:Â Brockport dropped their lone bout against the Lakers in 2018, 2-1, despite outshooting them 25-10. The Oswego goalkeeper made 12 saves on the day to help his team steal the win.
Jason Hayes had the assist on the only Brockport goal in the loss. The team looks to return the favor with a win against Oswego on the road Saturday.

Red Dragons Scouting Report:Â Cortland most recently tied Ithaca, 2-2, on the road. The team scores an average of 1.57 goals per game and takes an average of 17.4 total shots. Anthony Ruggiero is their leading point scorer with four goals on the season. Senior goalkeeper Sean Kelly has started five games this year and made 21 saves. The Red Dragons recently fell out of the top 25 nationally, but are still receiving votes in the rankings.

Lakers Scouting Report:Â The Oswego State Lakers have only allowed eight goals so far this season. The team has also placed nearly half of its shots attempts on frame. Caleb Asomoah leads the team with 12 points from six goals. 14 different players have contributed with points heading into the weekend. Goalkeeper Brian Terra has started all but one game and collected 29 saves in net.
