Women's Soccer Hosts Fisher for Home Opener

Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport women's soccer team is set for Wednesday's home opener, as the St. John Fisher Cardinals come to town. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 pm.

Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles fell to Clarkson University on the road in their last match, with the final score reading 2-0. The Golden Knights found the back of the net twice in the first half to propel them to a win. Despite the loss, Brockport outshot its opponent 12-8 in the game and placed seven of those shots on net. Kiley Longin placed two of her three shots attempts on goal, and goalkeeper Guliana Parisi made two saves in one half of play. The loss puts the team's record at 0-2 early in the season.

Home Sweet Home: The Green and Gold will get the chance to protect the home turf for the first time in the 2019 season on Wednesday. The team has fared better at home in recent years, posting a 13-8-2 mark on Bob Boozer Field over the last three seasons. Brockport has won nine consecutive home opener contests, with its last home opener loss coming in 2009.

Upcoming Event: Next week Brockport will travel to Nazareth for the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Tuesday, September 10th. Both teams will sport pink shirts during warm-ups for the occasion to spread awareness. There will be a 50/50 raffle during the game to raise money, as well as an opportunity to donate $5 to the cause upon entrance to the game.

Scouting Fisher: The St. John Fisher Cardinals are currently 1-0 on the year, after defeating Babson College 1-0 in their season opener. Megan Letta was able to score the team's goal in the win without an assist. Goalkeeper Lila Platt made seven saves on her way to recording a clean sheet in net.

Brockport v. Fisher: The Golden Eagles have been successful over the last decade against Fisher, with a 7-1-2 mark versus the Cardinals in the last 10 matchups. Last season's meeting between the two teams resulted in a 1-0 win for St. John Fisher. Brockport had more corner kick opportunities and just one less shot on net, but a goal in the 81st minute gave Fisher the win.

Looking Ahead: The Green and Gold is at home again this weekend, playing host to Houghton College. Saturday's non-conference match is scheduled to begin a 2 pm.
