Brockport, NY – The College of Brockport track and field team hosted the Golden Eagle Invitational on Saturday. A strong all-around performance from both the men and women was highlighted by several first-place finishes and other impressive accolades.
In the men's long jump,
Egypt Page broke his own school-record with a first place distance of 7.33 meters. Page also finished second in the 60-meter dash. He met the AARTFC qualification marks for both events as well.
Tony DeYoung won both the shot put and the weight throw at the meet, as the men's throwers swept the top four spots in each event. DeYoung's shot distance of 16.25 meters puts him at ninth in the nation.
Alayna Fredenburg took first in the women's weight throw with a toss of 15.64 meters. Sarah Crockett was second in the weight throw and placed first in the shot put amongst collegiate competitors with a distance of 12.72 meters.
Taj Shaw had an impressive day in the three jumping events. He won the triple jump with a distance of 14.25 meters, placed first among collegiate competitors in the high jump with a height of 1.91 meters, and took second in the long jump.
Chanyce Powell won both the long jump and the triple jump at the meet for the women. Her long jump of 5.48 meters is 13
th on the national qualifying list, while her triple jump of 11.44 meters is seventh on the list.
Satin Holmes took first place in both of her individual events, winning the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. She met the AARTFC qualifying marks for both as well with times of 7.94 and 26.10.
Pole vaulters Maya Reina and
Christopher Weiner both earned the top spot among collegiate competitors in the event. Weiner took first with his mark of 4.40 meters, while Reina's clearance height of 3.75 meters ranks seventh in the nation.
For the distance runners, Abbygail Clouden and Rose Pitman won the 5,000 and 800 meter events respectively. Lisa Pink took second place in the women's Mile race with a time of 5:40.09.
Sean Kuehn ran a time of 4:25.87 for first place in the men's Mile. In the 5,000 meter race
Cody Mooney was the top Brockport finisher with a second place time of 16:16.70.
Ethan Carey took second in the 3,000 meter, while
Mike Young placed second in the 800-meter.
In the 60-meter hurdles event,
Brandon Leiter took first for the men and Tess Klosner won it for the women.
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Friday, January 31
st as they travel to RIT for the Tiger invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 pm.
