Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport track & field team competed at the RIT Early February Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Tony DeYoung won the men's shot put with a throw of 16.33 meters and he currently ranks ninth on the indoor national qualifying list.
Christian Johnson placed second with a throw of 15.20 meters and
Matt Faulise took home third with a toss of 14.94 meters in the shot put. Faulise's throw moved him into 41
st on the national qualifying list.
Taj Shaw posted a season best 14.34 meters in the men's triple jump to take home first place in the event for the Golden Eagles as he moved into 10
th place on the indoor national qualifying list. Shaw came back with a distance of 6.94 meters to also win the long jump for the Golden Eagles.
Chris Weiner won the men's pole vault with a clearance of 4.25 meters. James Blake placed third in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.19.
Senior
Matt Faulise took home the top honors in the men's weight throw as he posted a toss of 15.90 meters. The Golden Eagles placed six competitors in the top seven finishers of the weight throw.
Olivier Kothor placed first in the men's 200 with a time of 23.02, good for tops on the team at this point in the season.
Mike Penzarino posted Brockport's top time of the season in the 1000 meter race as he posted a time of 2:44.60. Devin Legrair placed third in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 52.75.
Brockport returns to the track next Friday when the Golden Eagles host the two-day Brockport Multi Meet at the Special Events & Recreation Center.
