BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball is set to close out their home schedule this week with a pair of conference matchups on Tuesday and Saturday. The Green and Gold will open up the week with Fredonia on Tuesday evening for their annual Play4Kay game followed by senior day on Saturday afternoon against Geneseo.

A Look Back: Brockport started last week on a high note, putting up a season-high 78 points against the Blue Devils in 78-62 win. Senior
Bailey Pratt drove Brockport's offense shooting 7-11 from the floor and 6-9 from three for 20 points, two assists and four rebounds. The Golden Eagles shot an impressive 43.48% and 50 % in the third and fourth quarter alone, executing on 17 of 37 attempts. The win over the Blue Devils secured the Green and Gold's third straight win, putting them at an even .500 in conference play.
The Golden Eagles struggled to put things together this weekend however, picking up a pair of loses to Oneonta and New Paltz on the road. Pratt followed up a top-notch performance against the Blue Devils with an even stronger outing against the Red Dragons on Friday. The senior led all scorers on the night with a career-high 23 points in the contest, shooting 6-for-13 from beyond the arc. Despite a strong effort heading into the fourth quarter, the Red Dragons would steal the lead in the last minutes for a 65-73 final. The Green and Gold then traveled to New Paltz on Saturday where they Hawks picked up a 60-44 win, clinching first place in the SUNYAC with a 12-1 conference record. Freshman
Erin Radack was the front runner for the Golden Eagles against the Hawks, notching a career-high 19 points, shooting 7-for-13 from the field.
Post Season Push: The Golden Eagles currently still hold the fifth spot on the SUNYAC leaderboard with a 6-8 conference record, just above the Blue Devils at 5-9. New Paltz, Cortland, Geneseo and Buffalo State have each already clinched playoff berth, leaving just two post season spots left. With the regular season approaching quickly, the Golden Eagles have four conference matchups left to determine their fate. As a team they are currently averaging 59.7 points per game, 42.5 rebounds and 12.2 assists.
Julianna Taylor and
Kylee Rosbrook have continuously led the Green and Gold offensively, accounting for 463 total points collectively. Rosbrook has also been essential under the basket, along with
Allison Chiera (118), grabbing a total 143 rebounds.
Play4Kay: SUNYAC women's basketball is the first Division III conference to join forces with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to participate in the Play4Kay National Free Throw Challenge. Each of the 10 SUNYAC schools have taken on the challenge which states that with every free throw made during all games throughout the month of February, donations will go towards fighting against all women's cancer and the teams have already raised $651 in the first week alone. Senior Day: Following Tuesday's fundraiser, the Golden Eagles will be hosting their senior day festivities in their final home game of the year. The team will honor the hard work and dedication of their two seniors,
Bailey Pratt and
Emily Merrill, before Saturday's game against Geneseo.
What To Expect: With every game going forward moving them one step closer to an appearance in the SUNYAC tournament, the Golden Eagles are eager to pick up another two wins against Fredonia and Geneseo. The Green and Gold met the Knights first on Jan. 25 where they picked up an impressive upset in a 63-56 triumph. They then followed it up with a 78-62 win over the Blue Devils this past week.
Fredonia enters Tuesday's contest with a 9-12 overall record and are currently on a two-game win streak after this weekend's sweep of Plattsburgh and Potsdam. The Blue Devils are averaging 59.6 points per game, 37.3 rebounds and 12.2 assists, led by sophomore Katie Pitcher. Pitcher has amassed 230 points, averaging 11 per game. The Blue Devils will close out their regular season with New Paltz, Oneonta and Buffalo State on home court.
Geneseo is currently 10-4 in conference play and has already clinched third place and a spot in tournament play. The Knights are coming off a dominating 67-48 win over Oneonta on Saturday. Collectively, they are averaging 66.4 points per game, 41.9 rebounds and 15.5 assists. Kerrin Montgomery is leading the Knights offense with 12.8 points per game while shooting 51.5% from the floor and 84.6% from the line. The junior forward has also been dominant under the basket, pulling down 8.8 boards per game. Sara Ciotti and Lindsay Halpin join Montgomery atop the list, averaging 10.4 and 10.1 points per game respectively.
What's Next: The Green and Gold will close out the regular season on the road next week with a double header against Cortland and Oswego on Friday and Saturday.
