Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team is on the road this weekend for its last two regular season games of the year. Brockport takes on Cortland Friday at 5:30pm before Saturday's 2pm matchup with Oswego.
Last Time Out: The Green and Gold fell to Geneseo, 71-59, in the last contest as the team's record now stands at 10-13 overall and 7-9 in the conference.
Bailey Pratt and and
Julianna Taylor both reached double figures in the scoring column, combining for 28 points.
Chelsea Henry ended up just shy of a double-double with eight points and nine boards.
Bailey for Three: Senior
Bailey Pratt scored all 18 of her points against Geneseo from beyond the arc, shooting 6-for-13 from deep in the game. This marked the third time in the last five outings that she has made six 3-pointers in a game. Pratt has made 46 shots from downtown this season to lead the team.
Statistical Leaders: Julianna Taylor leads the team in points, assists, and steals this season. As the top scorer on the squad she averages 12 points a game.
Kylee Rosbrook is right behind her, putting up 10 points a night. Rosbrook is also the top rebounder this year, snagging 6.5 rebounds a game. Freshman guard,
Erin Radack currently leads the conference with a 3-point shooting percentage of 41%.
Chelsea Henry is among the SUNYAC's top free throw shooters, registering the fifth-best mark of 82.8% at the charity stripe.
Postseason Clinched: The Golden Eagles have officially clinched a spot in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament and are still fighting for official seeding. The field for the tournament is set as Brockport will join New Paltz, Cortland, Geneseo, Buffalo State, and Oneonta in the conference tournament. With two games left before the postseason begins, each game has potential to impact the final seeding for SUNYAC's.
Cortland Matchup: This will be the second time these two teams have faced off this season, as Cortland came out victorious, 69-60, in the first meeting. Taylor was fantastic that night, scoring her career-high 27 points in the loss. She shot 10-for-20 from the floor and 4-for-7 from deep. Brockport won the second half, but a big second quarter by Cortland was the difference.
Oswego Matchup: Earlier in the season Brockport lost a close one to Oswego at home, 69-62. Taylor had 22 points and six rebounds in the game, while Rosbrook and Henry combined for 23 points and 10 boards. The Lakers' duo of Raiven Encarnacion and Ramatoulaye Sy each scored 23 points in the game. After trailing at halftime, the Green and Gold had a big third quarter to cut the lead, but was unable to come all the way back.
SUNYAC Tournament: Following the conclusion of the regular season this weekend, the Golden Eagles will prepare for the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament. The game will be played on the road on Tuesday, February 25
th. Official time and opponent will be decided after this weekend's set of games.
