DeYoung's Record Day Highlights Day One of SUNYAC Championships

BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's track and field team sits in second place behind Geneseo following day one of the 2020 SUNYAC Conference Championships at Brockport's Special Events Recreation Center.   
 
Senior Tony DeYoung extended his lead on the competition nationally as he set a new school, meet and SUNYAC record with a first place throw of 17.86 in the men's shot put.  Art Jordan placed second with a toss of 15.59m, while Christian John placed third with a toss of 15.04 meters in the shot put.  Five of the top six finishers in the shot put were from Brockport.

Olivier Kother broke his own school-record and will head to Saturday's finals as the top qualifier after placing first in the prelims of the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.91.  Egypt Page was not far behind as he posted a time of 6.99 for the Golden Eagles and will head into Saturday's finals ranked second.  Kother also added a second place finish in the men's 200 meter dash prelims as he posted a time of 22.46. 

Taj Shaw placed third in the men's triple jump with a leap of 14.08 meters, while Egypt Page placed seventh in the same event with a distance of 13.46 meters. 

Devon Legrair qualified for Saturday's finals in the 400 meter dash with a sixth place finish after posting a time of 51.03.  Gerard Connelly placed fourth in the men's 5k as he posted a time of 15:12.65. 

Mike Panzarino currently sits in third place in the men's heptathlon with a score of 2386.  He recorded a time of 7.65 in the 60 meter dash (seventh place), a distance of 6.13 in the long jump (third place), a throw of 9.74 in the shot put (sixth place) and a clearance of 1.81 meters in the high jump (first place). 

The Golden Eagles return to the track on Saturday for day two of the SUNYAC Championships.  Competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
