DeYoung Earns Most Outstanding Performance of the Meet as Brockport Places Third at Championships

BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's track & field team placed third at the 2020 SUNYAC Indoor Championships on campus Saturday at the Special Events and Recreation Center.  Senior thrower Tony DeYoung claimed the men's Most Outstanding Performance of the Meet after breaking the school, meet and SUNYAC record in the shot put on day one and placing fourth in the weight throw on day two.  DeYoung heads into regionals ranked No. 1 in all of Div. III in the shot put (17.86 meters). 

Junior Egypt Page – who ranks second nationally in the long jump (7.49m) – claimed the SUNYAC title in the long jump on Saturday with a distance of 7.42 meters on his sixth and final attempt of the day.  Page also placed second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.06 to claim a total of 18 team points on the day for the Golden Eagles. 

Junio Olivier Kother claimed the title of fastest man in the SUNYAC as he won the 60 meter dash finals with a time of 6.96. In the prelims on Saturday he broke his own school-record with a time of 6.91 in the event and currently ranks 16th on the indoor national qualifying list headed into regionals next weekend. Kother also added a second place finish in the men's 200 meter dash as he posted a personal-best time of 22.27.

Brockport's Mike Panzarino earned a SUNYAC title in the men's heptathlon with a total score of 4597.  Panzarino made a big push for the title on Saturday as he posted two first place finishes and one second.  He won the men's heptathlon pole vault with a clearance of 3.80 meters and he also won the heptathlon 1000 meter race with a time of 2:44.01.  Panzarino placed second in the heptathlon 60 meter hurdles on Saturday with a time of 8.67.

Taj Shaw placed fourth in the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.85 meters. He also posted a third place finish in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.87 meters.  Shaw currently ranks 15th nationally in the triple jump (14.40 meters), a mark he will look to improve upon next weekend at regionals. 

Brockport's Matt Faulise placed third in the men's weight throw with a toss of 17.32 meters. Brockport placed four throwers on the podium for the weight throw as Christian Johnson finished sixth (15.14 meters) and John Demy finished eighth (14.50 meters). 

Devon Lagrair placed sixth in the men's 400 meter final with a time of 51.10. He also added a time of 22.92 in the 200 meter dash on his way to a seventh place finish in the event. 

Sophomore Humberto Wallace placed seventh in the men's 3k with a time of 8:57.35 and he also added a seventh place finish in the men's mile with a time of 4:22.77 for the Golden Eagles. 

Brockport's team of Jason Page, Mike Young, Mike Panzarino and Devon Lagrair placed sixth in the men's 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:27.04. 

Brockport returns to the track on Friday when qualifying Golden Eagles travel to Nazareth College for the 2020 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships. The two day meet begins on Friday at 11 a.m. The 2020 NCAA Div. III Championships will begin on March 13th in Winston-Salem, NC.
