Grimsley Double-Doubles, Brockport Wins 10th in a row to Clinch SUNYAC Berth

Oneonta, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team extended its win streak to 10 games with a big 85-75 win over Oneonta on the road. Brockport improves to 17-3 overall and 12-1 in the SUNYAC, expanding on its first-place lead in the conference standings.
 
With the win over Oneonta, Brockport has now officially clinched a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament.
 
Tyree Grimsley had his best game as a Golden Eagle in this one, putting up season-highs in points and rebounds. He came in off the bench to post a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double in the win.
 
Tyler Collins led the Green and Gold with 22 points, while Jahidi Wallace finished with 15 points. Danny Ashley tallied eight points and six assists, as teammate Devante Hagins contributed with seven points, eight boards, and four steals.
 
A closely contested first half went back and forth as Brockport's 19-10 led was quickly cut down to just a one-point edge with 10:13 on the clock. The Golden Eagles went up by as much as 12 approaching halftime, but Oneonta would close the half strong. Brockport held a 36-35 lead going into the locker rooms.
 
The Red Dragons finally took the lead early in the second, but it did not last long. The Green and Gold began to slowly separate from Oneonta on the scoreboard, going up 65-55 with 7:26 remaining in regulation. Brockport held onto its double-digit advantage for the rest of the game, securing another big SUNYAC win to hold its first place spot in the standings.
 
Tyler Collins and Jahidi Wallace combined for 23 points in the second half to hold off Oneonta. Antonio Alvarez scored all eight of his points on the night in the second, as the Brockport bench outscored the opponent's reserves 28-14.
 
Oneonta had the two high scorers in the contest, as the team fell to 13-5 overall and 9-2 in the SUNYAC. Andres Rivera put up a game-high 25 points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Harrison Deegan had 23 points.
 
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday afternoon, with another road game against New Paltz. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 pm.
