BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport track and field teams began competition at the Golden Eagle Multi & Invitational on Friday evening at the Special Events and Recreation Center. The women's pentathlon kicked off the weekend with its first five events (60 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, 800 meters), while the men began competition in the heptathlon with four events (60 meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump).
Junior
Mike Panzarino currently sits in third place out of 14 competitors with a score of 2445. He placed eighth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.60, third in the long jump with a distance of 6.23 meters, fifth in the shot put with a throw of 10.09 meters and third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.81 meters.
Sophomore
TJ Kmitch is currently in ninth place after day one with a score of 2306. He placed sixth in the 60 meter dash (7.58), eighth in the long jump (6.04 meters), seventh in the shot put (10.04 meters) and ninth in the high jump (1.69 meters).
Senior
Justin Gardner is in 10
th place with a score of 2294. He placed 13
th in the 60 meter dash (7.88), seventh in the long jump (6.06 meters), sixth in the shot put (10.06 meters) and fifth in the high jump (1.78 meters).
The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday to wrap up competition beginning at 10 a.m.
