Brockport Men Take Home First at Golden Eagle Multi & Invite

BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's and women's track & field teams both took home first place at the Golden Eagle Multi & Invitational at the Special Events and Recreation Center Saturday. The men scored 143 team points to place first, while the women ran away with the team title after posting 182 team points.

Tony DeYoung nearly broke the school-record in the shot put as he placed first in the competition with a personal best toss of 17.38 meters. He now ranks third on the national qualifying list in the shot put.  DeYoung also won the men's weight throw with a toss of 15.82 meters.

Mike Panzarino placed second  in the men's heptathlon with 4707 points for the Golden Eagles.  He now ranks 12th nationally in the event following the big score.  TJ Kmitch placed sixth in the heptathlon with a score of 4130 and he moved into 50th on the national indoor qualifying list. 

Humberto Wallace placed fifth in the event and moved into 36th on the national qualifying list with his time of 8:38.29 in the 3000 meter race. 
 
Egypt Page placed first in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.00 and he also took home the top honors in the long jump with a distance of 7.20 meters. 

Brandon Leiter placed second and now ranks 44th on the national qualifying list after posting a time of 8.45 in the 60 meter hurdles.

Art Jordan also had a big day in the shot put as he placed second and moved into 40th on the national indoor qualifying list with his toss of 15.11 meters.  Brockport now has four throwers in the top 50 nationally in the shot put (DeYoung, Christian Johnson, Jordan, and Matt Faulise).  Faulise finished fourth in the shot put on Saturday with a throw of 14.53 meters. Faulise also placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 15.40 meters.

Alex Burg was the top finisher for Brockport in the men's 5K with a time of 16:06.24, while Devon Legrair placed fifth with a time of 51.69 in the men's 400 meter race.  Legrair also placed second in the men's 200 meter dash with a time of 23.03. 

Taj Shaw tied for fourth in the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.86 meters. Shaw also added a fifth place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.42 meters. Chris Weiner added a fifth place finish in the pole vault as he cleared 4.40 meters. 

Brockport returns to action on Friday when the Golden Eagles travel to RIT to participate in the RIT Midseason Meet.  Brockport will also send a group to Boston University for the two day David Hemery Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
