Golden Eagles Earn Bounce Back Win Against Delhi

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team bounced back on Saturday with a convincing 15-5 win over the SUNY Delhi Broncos. Brockport improves to 2-1 on the season after three straight home games to start the 2020 campaign.
 
Brendan Halleran put up his second, four-goal performance of the young season, proving why he is the leading scorer for the Green and Gold. He now has a total of 10 goals in just three games.
 
Owen VanWie continues his strong play to start his sophomore campaign, notching a season-high four assists. He leads the team with six helpers already in 2020. VanWie also added a goal in the win, giving him a team-high five points on the day.
 
Rocco Santillo tallied four points in the game, coming from two goals and two assists. Teammate Corey Choberka registered three assists in the contest for the Golden Eagles.
 
Jack Peterson put up one goal and one assist, while Brandon Sveda and Patrick Sheridan each scored two goals.
 
Aidan Fitzgerald was an animal on defense, causing four turnovers and scooping up four ground balls. Goalie John Felice made seven saves in net, caused two turnovers and snagged a game-high five ground balls.
 
Brockport started the game off with four unanswered goals to own a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Delhi would get on the board in the second quarter, but the Golden Eagles scored five more to take a 9-1 advantage into halftime.
 
Four more goals from the Green and Gold gave the team a 13-4 lead heading into the fourth and final quarter of play. The team added two more scores to the total in the final period, cruising down the stretch to a 10-goal victory at home.
 
The Golden Eagle defense was swarming today, forcing 17 of Delhi's 30 turnovers as a team. They had 30 ground balls compared to just 16 from the visiting Broncos.
 
Brockport is back in action on Saturday, March 14th for the first road game on the schedule. The team travels to take on the Keuka College Wolves for a 1 pm start.
