Volleyball Hosts Two SUNYAC Matchups; Will Hold Senior Day on Saturday

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team is at home this weekend for two more SUNYAC matchups. The team takes on Buffalo State on Friday night at 6 pm before hosting Fredonia on Saturday at 1 pm.

Senior Day: Saturday's match with Fredonia will be Senior Day for the Golden Eagles. Prior to the start of competition there will be a short ceremony to recognize the six seniors on the team to thank them for their dedication to the school and program. This year's seniors include: Shelby Budnick, Andrea Coyle, Myah Frostclapp, Meaghan Mastro, Kerri McHale, and Ellen Paddock.

Last Time Out: Last weekend the Green and Gold hosted Potsdam and Plattsburgh for a pair of conference battles. The team earned back-to-back 3-0 sweeps, improving to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in SUNYAC play.

Home Sweet Home: Brockport has been incredible on its home floor this season. It has yet to lose a match at home, owning an undefeated mark of 8-0 playing in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium. The team has just three more home contests left on the regular season scheduled including two this weekend. Only Buffalo State, Fredonia, and RIT stand between Brockport and going undefeated at home for the year.

Cortland owns the top spot heading into the weekend at 5-0, while Fredonia is second at 6-1. Geneseo and New Paltz are just one game ahead of Brockport, as they both are 4-1 in the conference so far. Buffalo State is 3-4 and sit just below Brockport in the standings. Oneonta, Plattsburgh, Potsdam, and Oswego round out the bottom of the standings as they are currently on the outside looking in. Only six teams make the SUNYAC Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on November 2nd.

Looking at Buffalo State: The Bengals are 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the conference heading into the weekend slate. Winning two of their last three matches, they most recently defeated Oneonta at home, 3-1. #14 Liz Schultheis is the team's top offensive threat, leading the squad with 128 kills on the season. Brockport has won the last six meetings with Buffalo State, which includes five straight 3-0 sweeps.

Looking at Fredonia: The Fredonia Blue Devils enter the weekend owning a 10-8 mark overall and are 6-1 in the SUNYAC. They have won four matches in a row, with three coming by the way of a 3-0 sweep. Most recently the team defeated New Paltz at home, 3-0, but will face Geneseo on Friday for a tough matchup. #21 leads the Fredonia attack with a team-high 213 kills on the year. Brockport has won six straight against Fredonia, with two 3-0 sweeps in that span.
