Men's Soccer Defeats Potsdam on Senior Day!

Brockport, NY – The Brockport men's soccer team defeated the Potsdam Bears by a score of 2-1 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon. Hunter Kassel and Zach Langelotti scored the two goals for the Golden Eagles with assists by Matthew Stefaniw, Seamus Parker to help give the Green and Gold the W. Prior to the game, senior day seven seniors were honored for their dedication to the men's soccer program made up of Jacob WlostowskiMatthew StefaniwZach LangelottiNoah MohamedWilson WongAlex Fusani and Ben Kinslow
 
The game started off with at the 1:15 minute mark of the game, Potsdam goalkeeper received a red card in the game after a slide tackled outside of the goalie box occurred leaving the Bears a man down and with their backup goalkeeper in for the remainder of the game. Owen Santos scored the first of the game and the first of the game following an assist by teammate Zach Saddlemire at the 17:15 mark of the game.
 
Hunter Kassel would even up the game for the Golden Eagles following assists from Seamus Parker and the team's leading goal scorer Matthew Stefaniw. Following good defensive play by both teams, going into halftime after 45 minutes of play the score would remain 1-1.
 
Rounding out goals on senior day, at the 79:01 mark of the game Brockport would gain the lead. following a goal by Senior and co-captain of the team, Zach Langelotti scored the game winning goal with co-captain Stefaniw recording his second assist of the game.
 
The men's soccer team now advances to 6-6-1 overall with a 2-5 conference record. Potsdam's record after the loss falls to 2-11-2 overall and 0-8 in SUNYAC play.
 
Brockport's managed to record 13 shots in the game against 15 of Potsdams. Accuracy was on the Golden Eagles side however as 90 percent of the Green and Gold's shots were on goal compared to the 67 percent of shots on goal. Brockport managed to have an advantage in corner kicks with seven to Potsdam's three.
 
Next weekend will be the final scheduled regular season games for the men's soccer team as they look to host both Fredonia and Buffalo State on homecoming weekend. Brockport will matchup against Fredonia Friday after noon with a 3 p.m. start on October 23rd and then face Buffalo State under the lights on Saturday, October 23rd with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
