Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's soccer team won its second game in a row Friday. It defeated Fredonia at home, 2-1, improving to 7-6-1 overall and 3-5 in the SUNYAC.
Matthew Stefaniw and
Noah Mohamed both scored for the Golden Eagles in the match, while
Warren Banks was credited with an assist. Goalkeeper
Andrew Taylor played the full 90 minutes in net, recording one save.
Brockport took a 1-0 lead early thanks to the goal from
Matthew Stefaniw. Fredonia misplayed a ball back to the keeper and Stefaniw outhustled the defender to the ball, scoring his 11
th goal of the season. The match entered halftime with a 1-0 score, as the Green and Gold held the advantage.
The Golden Eagles owned the first half, outshooting Fredonia 8-2 in the half. They also kept the visiting team from any direct scoring chances despite both teams having three corner kick opportunities.
Trailing by a goal, the Blue Devils got on the board at the 53-minute mark to tie the game up at 1-1. Kaleb Steward was assisted by Jackson Retzer on the score. Nearly 10 minutes later the Golden Eagles would take the lead for good.

Brockport would go up 2-1 after the score from Mohamed, his first goal of the season. The team held off any attacking chances from the Blue Devils for the remainder of the game to secure the victory at home.
The Golden Eagles are at home again Saturday night for the final match of the regular season. They take on Buffalo State under the lights, starting at 6 pm.
