Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport swim and dive team is heading on the road for a meet hosted by SUNY Potsdam. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 pm on Saturday, November 13
th.
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles competed at the MCC Fall Invite last weekend, as they competed against several other schools in the pool. Overall, they had a solid outing as a team, taking first place in 16 total events combined. The women's team earned first place in 12 different competitions, while the men snagged four first place event finishes.
Diver of the Week Again: Earlier this week
Mark Eaton was named the PrestoSports Men's Diver of the Week for the second week in a row. Eaton took first place in three separate diving events last weekend at the MCC Fall Invite. After six dives, Eaton's score of 255.00 put him in first place on the 1-meter board. On the 3-meter board he scored 234.65 points after six dives to once again hold first place. He finished the day on top with a score of 386.45 after 11 dives on the 3-meter board. This is the fourth time this season a Brockport diver has won a weekly award, as Kyra Russ and Ren Watson have also both been named diver of the week this year for the women.
Women's Highlights: Elizabeth Sagan had a great day at the MCC Fall Invite, bringing home four first place finishes total with two individual wins. She won the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 25.23 and 57.21 respectively. Sawyer Parker had two wins of her own on the day, taking first in the 200-yard individual medley and in the 500-yard freestyle. Allison Morrow's time of 1:08.68 earned her first in the 100-yard individual medley. Bri Owen won the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 29.62 in the event. Kyra Russ was first in the 1-meter diving event after six dives, with a score of 202.10. Russ also was on top on the 3-meter board after six dives with a mark of 217.95. The women's 200-yard medley relay squad of Sagan, Morrow, Orcutt, and Parker placed first with a time of 2:01.40. The same group recorded a time of 8:40.00 for another first-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle event. Individually, Corinne Wilson won the 100-yard backstroke event with a time of 1:09.90. Nicole Orcutt's time of 1:04.34 earned her first in the 100-yard butterfly event.
Men's Highlights: Taylan Getiren snagged first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.22 at the MCC Fall Invite. Diver
Mark Eaton was first in the 1-meter dive after six dives, the 3-meter after six dives, and 3-meter dive after 11 dives.
Cody Conte swam a time of 19:48.90 to take second in the 1,650-yard freestyle event. In the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard individual medley,
Billy Tolpa and
Oliver Dragojevic each earned second place in their respective events. Dragojevic's time of 1:05.58 also was good for second in the 100-yard butterfly.
Matthew Chan took second in the 100-yard backstroke race, clocking in at 1:01.73. Chan teamed up with
Billy Tolpa,
Oliver Dragojevic, and
Ryan Sampson for second in the 200-yard medley relay. Dragojevic, Chan, Samspon, and Conte placed second in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
Looking Ahead: Next weekend the Golden Eagles are on the road once again, as they travel to take on the Oswego State Lakers. The meet is set for a 1 pm start time on Saturday, November 20
th.
