Postseason Regulars: Brockport has made it to postseason play in five consecutive seasons, including three trips to NCAA's and two ECAC Bowl Games. The Golden Eagles won the Empire 8 Conference title in 2017, 2018 and 2019 to earn the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Tournament. Brockport has won five postseason games in the last four seasons. In 2017, the Golden Eagles advanced as far as the NCAA Semifinals and finished the year with a 13-1 record. In 2018 and 2019 they reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Brockport has a 40-8 overall record over the course of the last four seasons.

ECAC Bowl Games: The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced via a live selection show the matchups for the 2021 ECAC Division III Bowl Games on Monday afternoon. James Baker and Frank Rossi announced the games, breaking down each matchup and what to watch for this coming Saturday. In the Clayton Chapman Bowl, Washington and Jefferson (8-2) will travel to SUNY Brockport (7-3). The Asa S. Bushnell Bowl will feature Hobart College (8-2) traveling to Westminster College (8-2). The Scotty Whitelaw Bowl will feature Utica College (6-4) traveling to Grove City College (7-3). The James Lynah Bowl will pair Saint Vincent College (5-5) traveling to FDU – Florham (6-4).

Regular Season Finale: Brockport rolled up 233 yards and four touchdowns on the ground and picked off four passes on its way to convincing 38-0 shutout victory over visiting Alfred University in Empire 8 Conference action on Senior Day Saturday.Â
Jala Coad and
Rashad Law combined for 183 yards and four TD's on the ground, while
Alaan Montgomery picked off two passes and has now tied the program's all-time single season record with nine interceptions.
Ben Robinson led the defense with eight tackles, while
Josh Greenwood made the most of his senior day with eight tackles, four TFL's and two sacks. Montgomery picked off two passes, while
Andrew Covais and
Lawrence Jenkins each added one INT. Jenkins returned his interception 30 yards for a touchdown, marking his third pick-six of the year. The Brockport defense pitched its second shutout of the season, and it has held its opponents to 14 points or less in seven of 10 games this season. Alfred could only muster six first downs the entire afternoon and was held to just 117 yards of total offense on the day. Brockport forced nine punts and held the Saxons out of the red zone all afternoon. The Golden Eagles posted four sacks and they were 4-for-5 in red zone chances on offense.

How We Got Here: Brockport has won four of its last five games and is currently 7-3 overall and finished 4-2 in the Empire 8, good for a second-place finish behind nationally-ranked Cortland in the conference standings. The Golden Eagles topped Framingham 31-0 on the road in the season opener. Brockport then fell to visiting and nationally ranked Ithaca College 23-8 before defeating visiting Rochester 16-7 at home in week three. Following a bye week, the Golden Eagles topped Fisher on the road 34-7 in Courage Bowl XVI before falling to nationally ranked Cortland on the road. The Golden Eagles topped Utica 24-16 for their fourth win of the season before downing Hartwick on Homecoming. Bport's sixth win of the season came three Saturday's ago at Buffalo State before falling to Morrisville on the road. Bport capped the regular season with a convincing win at home against Alfred.

All-Time Against W&J: Brockport is 0-1 all-time against Washington & Jefferson. The last and only time these two teams met was back in 2016 when they squared off in the ECAC Presidents Bowl at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Last Meeting Against W&J: Brockport let a first half lead slip away, giving up two touchdowns in the final two minutes of the ECAC Presidents Bowl against Washington & Jefferson College, and suffering a 38-31 loss on Nov. 19, 2016. Rochester native Dan Andrews capped off his Brockport career with 5,001-yards rushing and 434 total points scored. He was the first Golden Eagle to reach the milestone of 5,000 career yards and 400 total points scored. Current Brockport assistant coach Matt Szymanski led all defenders with 11 tackles, six of which were solo.Â

1,000 Yard Rusher: Junior running back
Jala Coad is among some of the top running backs in the country in several statistical category's this season. He has been named the Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Week three times for his efforts. He has at least one touchdown in nine of ten games this season. He finished the regular season ranked ninth nationally in rushing yards (career-high 1,198) and he also led the conference in rushing TD's (15), and scoring (10.2 points per game). He scored 43 more points and rushed for 328 more yards than any other player in the Empire 8 this season. Over the course of three seasons, he has 2,747 rushing yards to go along with 40 total touchdowns (37 rushing, three receiving). He ranks 12
th nationally with 102 points scored.

In The National Spotlight: The Golden Eagles' rushing defense ranks fourth nationally, allowing an average of just 45.6 yards per contest. Brockport also ranks third nationally in total defense, allowing an average of 194.6 yards per contest. Brockport has allowed just 110 first downs this season, which ranks fourth nationally.Â

Alaan Montgomery was named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week after his two-interception performance in the win over Alfred on Saturday.Â
Jala Coad has been named the Offensive Player of the Week three times this season, while
Lawrence Jenkins earned Defensive Player of the Week once. Coad also earned a spot on the D3football.com National Team of the Week earlier this season. Freshman kicker

Hard Work Pays Off: Alaan Montgomery finished the regular season as the national leader with an average of .9 interceptions per game. He recently tied the program's single season interception record of nine which was set by John Banek in 1990 and again by Tom Massey in 1997. Montgomery has eight interceptions in the last seven games for the Golden Eagles. He has 12 INTs over the course of the last two full seasons for Brockport.
Hard to Throw On: Brockport's defense ranks second nationally in passes intercepted with 25 and third nationally with five defensive touchdowns.Â
Raylens Boutin finished the year ranked second in the conference behind Montgomery with 1.3 passes defended per game and five total interceptions. Four Golden Eagles have five or more pass breakups this season including Boutin (eight),
Ben Marshall (seven), Montgomery (seven) and
Kenny Hernandez (five).Â

Doing it ALL: Senior linebacker
Lawrence Jenkins has three interceptions returned for a touchdown this season and four total touchdowns (one rushing). He ranks fourth on the team with 46 total tackles, second with 11.5 tackles for a loss and he also has four pass breakups. He averages a team-best 33.57 yards per kick return, with a long of 72 yards.

Imhotep Cromer ranks second in the league with an average of 5.6 receptions per game. He ranks second the E8 with 647 receiving yards for an average of 64.7 yards per game. He has caught seven or more balls in five of nine games, including a season-high 10 in Brockport's season opening win over Framingham. He also has three total touchdowns (two receiving, one rushing).

Ice in His Veins: Freshman kicker
Nate Wigent finished the regular season ranked sixth nationally and first in the conference with a .818 field goal percentage. He also ranks in the top 25 nationally with an average of .9 field goals per game. He has made at least one field goal in 7-of-10 games this year, including a career-long 43 yarder in the season opener at Framingham. He is also 29-for-31 on extra point opportunities this year and he ranks second on the team with 56 total points.

Jack Cheshire finished the regular season ranked second in the league with 1,503 passing yards to go along with six touchdown passes. He completed 152 total passes and averaged 150.30 passing yards per game.Â
Depth in the Running Game: Sophomore
Rashad Law has carried the ball 70 times for 324 yards and three touchdowns on the ground this season. Freshman
Gino Fontanarosa has 35 carries for 198 yards and one touchdown to his credit.Â

Dan Giangrasso ranks in the top 50 nationally and second in the Empire 8 Conference with an average of 37.7 yards per punt this season. He finished the regular season with a long of 58 yards, four punts of 50+ yards and 19 punts inside the 20 yard line. Â
Captains of the Ship: Brockport's three captains for this season include senior offensive lineman
Luke Lodini, and senior linebacker's
Lawrence Jenkins and
Andrew Covais. Jenkins is a two-time Empire 8 All-Conference selection, while Covais earned all-conference honorable mention in 2019. Lodini was a 2021 D3football.com Preseason All-American First Team pick for the Golden Eagles.

Meet the Sideline General: Head Coach
Jason Mangone posted his 65th career victory following Brockport's win over Alfred on Saturday. He now has a 65-25 overall record. Following the 2019 season, Mangone and his coaching staff became the first group to earn three consecutive Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year honors in the 19-year history of the conference. Mangone has been named the AFCA Region I Coach of the Year in two of the last three seasons. Mangone and his staff have compiled a 39-8 overall record in the last four seasons. In 2017 he was named the AFCA National Coach of the Year after guiding the Golden Eagles to the semifinals of the NCAA Div. III Championships.

Meet the Presidents: Washington and Jefferson is located about 300 miles away from Brockport in Southwest Pennsylvania. The Presidents finished the year with an 8-2 record and a 7-2 ledger in the President's Athletic Conference. They finished the season in third place in the PAC Conference after losing to Westminster and eventual conference champion Carnegie Mellon. They have won two of their last three games and they are coached by 19
th year Head Coach Mike Sirianni. Sophomore Colton Jones is the expected starter under center for W&J on Saturday and he has completed 84 passes for 818 yards and six touchdowns on the season. Joey Koroly leads the rushing attack with an average of 69.22 yards per game to go along with seven rushing touchdowns. W&J's defense has allowed an average of just 15.90 points per game this season. Sean Doran leads the defense with 79 total tackles. 17 Presidents earned selection to the 2021 All-PAC Football teams, which were announced Tuesday afternoon. W&J matched the league-high with seven First Team honorees. The seven players earning All-PAC First Team status were wide receiver Andrew Wolf (Ashland, Ohio/Hillsdale), offensive lineman Angelo Fratini, defensive lineman Alex Keith, linebacker Sean Doran, defensive back Drew Ehrlich, punter Jacob Sarver and return specialist Justin Huss.Â
