Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team is on the road Saturday for a non-conference matchup with Hilbert College. The contest tips-off at 4 pm as Brockport looks for a bounce back win.
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles suffered their first loss of the season last game, falling to RIT by a score of 46-60. They held a narrow 29-24 lead going into halftime, but RIT's huge third quarter proved to make the difference. The visiting Tigers outscored Brockport 36-17 in the second half, to make Brockport's record 4-1 overall.
Erin Radack led the team in scoring, as she put up 12 points from her spot off the bench.
Rebounding is Key: Controlling the glass has proven to be one of the main keys to success for Brockport this season. At 4-1, the team has lost its only game in which it was outrebound by the opposing team by 11 boards. RIT outrebounded Brockport 47-36, as Brockport's only loss of the year so far. In the four wins for the Green and Gold, the team has accumulated a rebounding advantage of 193-146 over the opponents. The squad needs to get back to owning the boards on Saturday to help earn that bounce back win over Hilbert.
Team Leaders: While the team's leading scorer
Anna Felice (17.3 ppg) is out with an injury, other players will need to step up.
Erin Nolan is putting up 10-2 points a game, while
Kylee Rosbrook (7.6 ppg) and
Erin Radack (7 ppg) are both scoring at least seven a night. Nolan is a perfect 7-for-7 at the foul line so far and is also shooting an efficient 61.1% from the floor.
Molly Mahony (6 rpg),
Kylee Rosbrook (5.4 rpg), and
Serena Sordetto (5.4 rpg) are the team's leading rebounders so far this year.
Chelsea Henry leads the squad with 15 assists on the season, and shooting 85.7% from the charity stripe.
On the Road: Playing in the third away game, Brockport has done well on the road early on this season. The team is 2-0 playing on the road, taking two wins with a 4.5-point average margin of victory. The Green and Gold defeated William Smith College, 66-61, on the road last weekend. Prior to that, the squad earned its first win over the University of Rochester since 1983 by way of a 69-65 win on the road. Look for a strong effort from Brockport as it hopes to remain undefeated in away contests.
