Buffalo, NY – They SUNY Brockport men's basketball team won its ninth consecutive bounce-back game, as it defeated Buffalo State on the road, 99-73. The win pushes the squad to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the SUNYAC.
Jahidi Wallace posted his second double-double of the season, finishing with 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the team. He shot an efficient 8-for-11 from the floor and went 5-for-5 at the foul line.
David Grady III added 18 points and six rebounds, while freshman
Mekhi Beckett scored 12 points in his first collegiate start.
The teams went back-and-forth to start the contest, but Brockport eventually created some space. Brockport snagged a nine-point advantage at 28-19 with 8:52 left in the half. The lead was extended to double-digits before halftime hit, as the squad held a 46-38 edge.
The hosting Bengals fought to stay in the game, but they couldn't close the gap on the Green and Gold. Buffalo State would end up down 26 as time ran out, thanks to a strong all-around performance from Brockport. The Golden Eagles shot 20-for-29 at the foul line, continuously attacking the rim offensively and drawing contact. They scored 64 points in the paint and shot a 49.3% from the field. They earn a solid bounce back win, earning a convincing 99-73 win on the road.
Buffalo State had five double-digit scorers in the loss, as the team drops to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Sheldon Adams, the leading scorer in the SUNYAC (25.9 ppg) was held to just 10 points. Matt Parkinson led the team with 12 points, while Marquell Boutwell posted a 10-10, double-double.
The Golden Eagles are back in action down in Daytona Beach, FL for the Mauro Panaggio Tournament. They take on Penn State Altoona on December 20
th and Piedmont University on the 21
st. The contests will be played at 12 pm on both days, hosted at DME Academy.
