Golden Eagles Set for Busy Weekend of SUNYAC Play

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team looks to continue its hot start with a pair of SUNYAC matchups this weekend. The squad travels to take on Cortland at 5:30 pm on Friday before hosting Oswego for a 2 pm tip-off on Saturday.

Hot Start: The Golden Eagles have won back-to-back games and improved to 6-1 overall on the year so far. This marks the programs best start to a season since beginning the 2007-08 season 6-1. Brockport finished that season 25-5 overall, claiming one of its four conference titles and making one of its five NCAA Tournament appearances. This year's squad is off to an incredible start and has a chance to continue its momentum with some key conference matchups on Friday and Saturday.

Last Time Out: Brockport opened up conference play with a win against Fredonia in its last game, defeating the Blue Devils at home, 54-46. Holding a slim, five-point lead going into the fourth quarter a late surge pushed the team ahead in the final period. Erin Radack got hot on the offensive end to spark what became the game-winning run for the Green and Gold. The team improved to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC, while Fredonia moved to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Henry Having Her Way: Chelsea Henry has been fantastic in recent outings, scoring at least 15 points in three of the last four games. She has also been stuffing the stat sheet in several other categories for the Green and Gold. Last outing, she led the way with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. The senior recorded the first double-double of her career against Hilbert, finishing with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Henry is averaging 13 points per game over the last four, hitting her stride just in time for SUNYAC play to get going.

Radack is Rolling: Erin Radack has been on fire over the last few games, putting together the best scoring streak of her collegiate career. She had scored double-digits in back-to-back games for the first time in her career against RIT and Hilbert, but extended the streak to three straight games against Fredonia. Radack is averaging 13.3 points per game during her hot streak and has shot a combined 8-for-21 from long range over the last three contests. She provided an incredible offensive spurt against Fredonia, scoring all 13 of her points in the fourth quarter which included three straight makes from beyond the arc.

On the Road to Cortland: The Cortland Red Dragons enter the weekend on a three-game win streak, as they stand at 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference. They opened up SUNYAC competition with a 67-53 win over Oswego earlier this week on the road. #12 Casey Travers (12.7 ppg), #31 Nyia Longford (11.3 ppg), and Corinne Miedreich (11 ppg) are all averaging double figures for the Red Dragons. Brockport lost both meetings against Cortland in the 2019-20 season and looks to right the ship this time around.

Hosting Oswego: After falling to Cortland in the SUNYAC opener, Oswego holds a 0-1 mark in the conference and a 3-4 overall record. #32 Diamond Pickett is nearly averaging a double-double for the Lakers, posting 9.8 points and 11.5 rebounds a night. #5 Danielle Caivana and #2 Chastin Giles are the team's leading scorers, averaging 15.6 and 10 points per game respectively. Brockport and Oswego spit the two meeting back in the 2019-20 season, with Brockport winning the latest matchup, 81-73. The Golden Eagles have five of the last six matchups against the Lakers.

Up Next: The Green and Gold will prepare for a trip to Buffalo State for the next game on the schedule, continuing a run against SUNYAC opponents. The game is set to tip-off at 5:30 pm on Friday, December 10th.
