Panzarino Takes Home First at Brockport Multi

The SUNY Brockport men's and women's track & field teams finished the Brockport Multi at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium with the completion of the multi events Monday afternoon. 
 
Brockport's Mike Panzarino was able to finish in first place in the decathlon with a final score of 5948 and he now ranks 17th on the outdoor national qualifying list. In day two of the multi events he managed to take home a first-place finish in three out of the five events. Panzarinos's first place finishes came in the 110m hurdles (15.87 seconds), the pole vault (3.80m) and the 1500m (4:30.13).

Along with his three victories, Panzarino also finished third in the javelin throw (35.36m) and fourth in the discus (24.83m) to secure the decathlon victory.
 
The other men's competitor for the decathlon, freshman Carson Swierske finished his decathlon debut with a total score of 4535 points for a seventh-place finish.
 
In the women's heptathlon, Madison Baker and Ari Brown were the two competitors for the Green and Gold. Baker capped the day with an impressive kick in the 800m race as she jumped four spots in the final lap and placed fourth with a time of 2:40.93. Baker also took home fifth place in the women's javelin throw after reaching a mark of 22.88m on her second throw. Baker would end up finishing the heptathlon in ninth place with a score of 3072 points.
 
The Golden Eagles will travel to St. John Fisher next week and compete in the Cardinal Classic. The men's team will compete on Friday April 23rd with a 9:00 a.m. start. The women will start their day at the same time when they travel on Saturday April 24th to compete.
