Brockport, NY – The Brockport men's lacrosse team played its final game of the 2021 season on Friday on the road at Geneseo. The Golden Eagles will end the year 2-5 overall and 2-4 in SUNYAC play after an 8-5 loss to the Knights.
Liam O'Connor closed the season out strong with four points on two goals and two assists.
Ethan Stiles was nearly perfect in his faceoff specialist role, winning 14 of his 16 faceoffs.
Patrick Sheridan scored one goal and had one assist in the loss.
Geneseo took control of the game early with three unanswered goals in the first quarter.
Patrick Sheridan scored a highlight behind the back goal in the second, which sparked a run for Brockport. After the Green and Gold tied the game up at 3-3, Geneseo surged again to secure a three-goal halftime lead.
A quiet third period featured just one goal, coming from the hosting Knights. The Golden Eagles won the fourth 2-1, thanks to two man-up scores by
Liam O'Connor. However, they did not have enough time to rally for a comeback. Geneseo would take the 8-5 win at home.
O'Connor led the way with four points, while Sheridan had two.
Brandon Sveda and
Sean Duffy both found the back of the net once in the contest.
Max Riley had one assist and four ground balls.
Aidan Fitzgerald led Brockport with eight ground balls and also caused three turnovers.
Michael Coletti was extremely disruptive on defense with five caused turnovers. Goalkeeper
John Felice made 11 saves in the outing, playing all 60 minutes.
Tim Fallo had three assists for the Knights, while Keegan Doller registered two goals and an assist. Mark Pav made 17 saves for Geneseo as the team improves to 5-3 overall and 5-1 in the SUNYAC.
Not qualifying for postseason play means the end of the season for the Golden Eagles, who will finish the 2021 season 2-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
