Brockport, NY – The Brockport softball team split Saturday's doubleheader with Oswego at home. The Green and Gold took game one, 8-1, before dropping a close one in game two, 7-6. The team is now 6-6 overall and in the SUNYAC.
Molly Ryan had a day in the designated player role, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, hitting a homer in both games.
Emily Willis-Nersinger also went yard with a grand slam in game one of the doubleheader.
Game 1
After a scoreless first inning, Brockport got on the board first in the second thanks to the first
Molly Ryan home run of the day. With the bases loaded in the third,
Emily Willis-Nersinger would blow the game open with a grand slam which gave the team a 5-0 lead.
A homer by the Lakers got them on the board in the fourth, but two more runs from Brockport stretched the lead to 7-1. The Golden Eagles would snag another run for insurance in the sixth inning, as they flew to an 8-1 victory.
Molly Ryan was 2-for-3 in the game with a homer and a double, while Emme DeJesus knocked in two runs in a 1-for-3 effort at the dish. Willis-Nersinger had four RBIs from her grand slam to lead the team in game one.
Catherine Johnson (4-2) threw her six consecutive complete game, as she started and got the winning decision. She allowed just three hits and one run to score while striking out seven batters in the contest.
Taylor DuBois scored the only run for Oswego thanks to a solo home run in the fourth inning. Fiona Higgins got the loss in the circle in game one, allowing six runs to score in three innings of action.
Game 2
A three RBI double in the top of the first inning gave Oswego an early 3-0 lead. The visiting team added one more run in the second to go up by four runs. Once again
Molly Ryan was ready to answer the bell, hitting her second solo homer of the doubleheader to put Brockport on the board. Another single run scored in the third inning made it a 4-2 game, in favor of the Lakers.
After Oswego scored another run in the top of the fourth, the Golden Eagles responded in the bottom half of the inning.
Cameryn Duggan's RBI single which sparked the fourth inning rally. In a last second pinch hitting switch,
Annie Dipirro came in clutch with a two RBI single which tied the game at 5-5. The Lakers broke the tie with two runs in the top of the sixth to put the pressure on Brockport.
Erynn Hogan stepped up with a big RBI single, making it a one-run game, but the rally would stop there as Oswego took game two, 7-6.

Cameryn Duggan both finished 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI.
Annie Dipirro and
Emily Willis-Nersinger each had one hit in the second game, combining for three RBIs.
Macy Kane (0-1) threw for five innings as the starting pitcher in this one, unfortunately receiving the losing decision.
Julia Palopoli entered in relief at the top of the sixth, striking out two batters and allowing no earned runs as she finished out the game.
Fiona Higgins came into the game for Samantha Morgan in the fourth inning. Both struck out four, while Higgins got the win. Madison Hoeflich got the save for Oswego who goes to 7-11 overall and 5-9 in the conference.
The Golden Eagles are back home Sunday for another SUNYAC doubleheader against Fredonia. It all gets started at noon at the Clark V. Whited Complex.
