Tony DeYoung took home 13
th place in the shot put with a throw of 15.27m at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Irwin Belk Track hosted by North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC.
DeYoung posted a throw of 14.69m on his first attempt, he fouled on his second and narrowly missed out on advancing to the finals after his third and final throw of the day came in at 15.27m.
DeYoung headed to nationals ranked 10th nationally in the shot put event. He is now a three-time national qualifier after qualifying for indoor nationals twice in the event in 2019 and 2020. He placed 15th at the 2019 indoor nationals and was named an All-American after qualifying as the No. 1 seed in the country in the COVID-shortened 2020 indoor season. He is a seven-time SUNYAC Champion and All-Conference First Team selection in the shot put and discus. He recently placed second at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships with a throw of 16.39m. His top mark of the outdoor season came on May 14th when he won the shot put with a throw of 16.75m at the Redhawk Capstone Meet.
