The SUNY Brockport men's track & field team leads the team competition with 56 points after day one of the SUNYAC Conference Championships hosted by SUNY Cortland on Friday. Day two competition begins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Brockport posted 27 team points in the men's hammer throw and also earned 18 team points in the long jump.
Egypt Page claimed the men's long jump SUNYAC title with a distance of 6.86m, while
Taj Shaw placed second in the same event with a distance of 6.76m.
Matthew Jackson earned the SUNYAC title in the hammer after posting a personal best toss of 55.49m. Jackson's throw now ranks 11
th nationally.
Elijah Washington earned eight team points and placed second in the event with a throw of 53.51m.
Matthew Faulise placed third with a throw of 51.99m and
Connor Ferris placed fifth with a personal best throw of 51.75m.
Tony DeYoung picked up one point for Brockport with a personal best throw of 49.71m.
Brockport added seven team points in the javelin event.
Jack Brundage was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles as he placed fourth with a toss of 40.00m.
Elijah Washington placed fifth with a throw of 37.70m and
Jason Marincic placed sixth with a toss of 37.23m.
Ethan Carey narrowly missed out on all-conference honors as he placed fourth in the men's 10K to earn four team points for Brockport.
Olivier Kother recorded a personal best time of 10.71 to finish first in the prelims of the men's 100m dash. He will head into Saturday's finals as the favorite and he now ranks 19
th nationally in the event.
Egypt Page qualified for Saturday's finals after finishing second in the prelims with a time of 11.04. Devon Kipp placed third in the 100m prelims with a time of 11.06.
Junior
Devon Legrair qualified for Saturday's finals with a sixth place finish in the 400m dash prelims. He posted a season best time of 50.60 for the Golden Eagles.
Blake James posted a time of 16.63 in the 110m hurdles preliminaries to advance to Saturday's finals.
Legrair also qualified for the finals in the 200m dash after posting a second place time of 22.45 in the prelims. Kipp added a preliminary time of 22.79 in the same event and will head to Saturday's finals with the fourth fastest time overall.
Senior
Mike Panzarino is currently in second place in the men's decathlon after day one. He has 3120 points. He won the decathlon high jump with a clearance of 1.84m and he also placed second in the 400m with a time of 52.19. He placed third in the long jump (6.29m) and the shot put (9.99m) and he added a fifth place finish in the 100m dash (12.22).
