The SUNY Brockport track & field teams both placed second at the SUNYAC Championships hosted by SUNY Cortland on Friday and Saturday. The men's team picked up 197.5 points and were narrowly edged by conference champion Geneseo in the team competition. Brockport's women also placed second behind Geneseo with a team score of 159.
Devin Kipp totaled 18 team points on his own after winning the discus and placing fourth in both the 100m and 200m dash to earn the title of Most Outstanding Performance at the championships.
Tony DeYoung got the throw he has been searching for all season and took home the SUNYAC title in the shot put after posting a season-best toss of 16.61 meters. His new season-best mark currently ranks 10
th on the national outdoor qualifying list.
Art Jordan placed third with a throw of 14.35 meters,
Elijah Washington placed fourth(13.72m) and
Matt Faulise placed fifth (13.65m) in the shot put.
Marius Sidlauskas claimed the conference title in the 1500m race as he posted a personal-best time of 3:59.91. His time is tied for fifth all-time at Brockport. It was quite the day for Sidlauskas as he also posted a personal-best time of 1:55.39 and took home second place in the men's 800m race. His 800m time ranks fourth all-time at Brockport.
Brockport's 4x100m relay team of
Matthew Kilian,
Olivier Kothor,
Devon Legrair and
Egypt Page took home the SUNYAC relay crown with a season best time of 41.97. Their new top time currently ranks 29
th on the NCAA Div. III Outdoor National qualifying list.
The Brockport throwers earned four of the top six spots in the discus.
Devin Kipp won the men's discus competition with a season-best throw of 48.94m. His throw now ranks 15
th nationally at the time of this release.
Art Jordan placed second in the discus with a toss of 45.91m and
Tony DeYoung placed third with a throw of 43.16m.
John Demy placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 38.27m.
Olivier Kothor and
Egypt Page took home the top two spots in the men's 100m dash. Kothor claimed the title as the SUNYAC's fastest man as he posted a time of 10.86 to win the finals. Page came in second with a time of 11.08.
Taj Shaw placed second in the men's triple jump with a season-best distance of 14.46m. His distance currently ranks 12
th nationally at the time of this release.
Devon Legrair placed third in the men's 200m final as he posted a time of 22.40. He also placed fourth in the 400m race with a personal-best time of 50.18.
Devin Kipp placed fourth in the 200m race with personal-best a time of 22.79. Kipp also added a PR in the 100m dash as he placed fourth with a time of 11.06.
Brandon Leiter placed second in the men's high jump to earn eight team points for the Golden Eagles. The senior cleared 1.85 meters to take home second for Brockport.
Mike Panzarino placed second in the men's decathlon with 5234 points.
Brockport returns to the track on Friday when it travels to Roberts Wesleyan for the Red Hawks Capstone Meet at 4 p.m. The All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships are set for May 19-20 at St. John Fisher College.
