Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's tennis team got its first conference victory of the season on Saturday by defeating Oswego, 7-2. The squad is now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the SUNYAC this season.
The Golden Eagles swept doubles play for the third time this fall to snag three key match points.
In first doubles,
Eliza Gonzalez and
Caroline Stewart teamed up for the 8-3 victory.
Heather Phillips and
Elizabeth Sirico took care of business with an 8-1 win in the second doubles matchup.
The third doubles pairing of
Samantha Aubin and
Shannon Aubin dominated, 8-0, to secure the team's sweep of duos.
Caroline Stewart continues to be undefeated in singles play so far, as she did not surrender a point in a 6-0, 6-0 two set win. She is now 4-0 in singles and 4-0 in doubles this fall.
Eliza Gonzalez worked for a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the first singles slot to score another key match point for the Green and Gold.
Elizabeth Sirico went to three sets for her win in the third singles flight. Taking the match point by way of a 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 triumph.
Heather Phillips secured what became Brockport's seventh point in the contest with her 6-1, 6-1 win in fourth singles.
The Golden Eagles now prepare for the ITA Northeast Region Championship next weekend. The action runs from September 18
th-20
th at William Smith College.
