Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team will host back-to-back matches at home this weekend for a pair of SUNYAC matchups. Brockport takes on New Paltz on Friday at 4 pm before facing Oneonta at 2 pm on Saturday.
Last Time Out: The last outing resulted in a loss for the Green and Gold, as the team fell to RIT 5-2. The visiting Tigers scored twice in the opening half and once again right after halftime to go up 3-0. Brockport would answer with two quick goals, cutting the deficit to just one score. RIT fought off the comeback attempt with two more goals later in the second half to secure the win. RIT jumped up to 4-1 overall, while Brockport now owns a 3-2-1 record.
Goal Scorers: Katie Hotaling is leading the team and is tied for second in the conference with four goals this season.
Julia Mascaro is also top ten in the conference with three goals and has a total of nine points which is top five in the SUNYAC.
Brylie Hapeman and
Sydnee Smith have both found the back of the net twice for the Green and Gold so far.
Lara Kanbur,
Kiley Longin, and
Franchesca Polcaro have all scored one goal as well.
Distributing the Ball: Julia Mascaro leads the team with three assists to her tally from her midfield position. Sophomore
Sophia DeAngelo is second on the squad with two assists from playing balls into the attacking area from her defender spot on the pitch.

In the Net: Kayla Usborne has been a staple in the lineup as the team's goalkeeper, starting in all six contests this season. She has recorded two solo shutouts and teamed up with
Guliana Parisi for a combined shutout. Usborne has made 25 saves from facing 65 shots and owns a .735 saves percentage.

Scouting New Paltz: The Hawks come into town on Friday with momentum after two solid wins in a row prior to conference play. They defeated Bard, 2-0, before a dominant 7-1 victory over Manhattanville last Saturday. With a 2-2-1 overall record, New Paltz has been unable to win on the road at this point with an 0-2 mark away from home. Rachel Eisert and Sky Pedroza are the top two scoring threats, as the pair have combined for seven goals. Brockport defeated New Paltz in the last meeting, taking the 5-0 win at home in 2019.
Scouting Oneonta: The Oneonta Red Dragons head into the weekend with an 0-5 record as SUNYAC play begins. They take on Geneseo on Friday before coming to Brockport on Saturday. Oneonta has struggled to find the net this fall, scoring only two goals in the first five matches. The Red Dragons are currently being outscored by their opponents, 19-2. The Green and Gold defeated Oneonta, 3-0, twice in the 2019 season, once in the regular season and then again in the conference tournament.
What's Next: The Golden Eagles hit the road for their next contest, when they take on the University of Rochester. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, September 28
th at 7 pm.
